Good job tough guy, you certainly won this round.

Lack of respect for my GF? Her parents are the ones that have been controlling her all of her life, and couldn't stand it when I would take her out and we'd be together. It's been more 3 years of putting up with the same BS from them. She hates it and I hate it, but I put up with it because I really do love her. We already tried to discuss it with them in a civil manner and they ignored the situation. I took them out to dinner to discuss it and they weren't hearing it.

That was a year ago, and it's time for them to let go of her, if that's what she really wants.

So you say I won the round though? Great, I do what it takes to get the job done. ;)

Really what I don't understand is why you're being so half-assed about it. If you really want to show her how much you love her, and how much of a better provider you are, you'd beat the fvck out of him and have done with it. That'd learn him.

So first you criticize my morals, then tell me to beat the fvck out of him? Oh the ironyyyyyy.

If I knew he didn't come on this message board, I would have seriously thought you were him.

What, are you an idiot? Not to get too stereo typical here but if he was jewish, he wouldn't have racked up $100K in debt... Jewish people aren't necessarily going to be automatically wealthy but I'm sure most have better money sense than the average joe (I've yet to meet a jewish person with that much debt..)

$100k is nothing in the real world. A mortgage will easily eat that up in 90% of the livable locations in America, even with 20% down.

Honestly, I think it would have been better to just swallow your pride and have ignored that comment that was made behind your back. I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but like has been said he is her father and sometimes you just have to let things slide.

Fixed.

Of course, then he might want to kill you... but it will be fun for us.

Yep, your sacasm meter is broken, you should have that replaced.

I'll distill it in two easily digestible aphorisms:

"The family relationships of your SO's are much like a train. You have no control over where they're going, and you're an idiot to stand in the way of them"

"You don't just marry the girl, you marry her family"

You might not believe the second to be true, but it is.

I am Jewish. I have more than $100k in debt in my mortgage alone.
