You just go along with it- people concurring with your positions and saying all kinds of weird things. If I was arguing that affirmative action was bad and someone popped up to agree and said minorities were inferior anyway, I would not allow my position to be corrupted by stupidity.

The fact that people can casually sit back and make the most outlandish claims is disturbing and shameful. Thankfully, average and normal people will see it for what it is: disgusting lies from hateful people.

What you fail to understand is that I posted this to get various viewpoints. I *know* I'm dealing in opinion here, not fact. That's the difference. I could very well be wrong in my summary of my observations. I was looking for other viewpoints to point out where this administration is NOT falling under a veil of secrecy and move toward more authoritarian control.

I have yet to see anyone do that in this thread.

This is leading me to believe that my opinions are valid as it appears the "other side" is unwilling to admit to what is going on but is also unwilling to defend it.

The word "debate" is ill placed in this forum. Things are rarely "debated" here. When somebody, liberal or conservative, starts a topic here like minded people quickly jump into the thread to congratulate them give them a thumbs up. Any dissenting opinions are quickly met with cookies, yawns, and cries of "neocon" or "liberal".

I didn't like the implication of her209's post that equates my OP with calling Bush as Hitler and questioning about concentration camps for Vietnamese-Americans akin to those of the Holocaust.

I find any Bush supporter that questions the patriotism of an anti-war supporter to be as ignorant as someone who would imply a comparison of his administration to the Nazi's, ie: "Remember the rise of authoritarianism in 1930s Germany?"

You feign this holier-than-thou stance but have offered absolutely NOTHING to attempt to dissuade me of my opinion based on my observations. If I'm incorrect in my assumptions, do tell where I am wrong, oh enlightened one.

Once again you avoid my point. I did not post to argue your contentions, I will not attempt to dissuade you of your opinion, I can care less what you're saying, it's HOW you people are saying it so quit evading my point. From my first post until now my argument is that you people go along with extremist, hateful thinking, not just in this topic but all over the place. It alienates rational people, and exposes your ideas as fraudulent. Call me holier-than-thou, but I know how to make points and present arguments without vicious attacks and exagerrated lies. You're so blind in your hate that you people can't even realize that you do it... it just comes natural.

I'm used to reasonable debate. I understand good people can have differing views. I believe in honest disagreements, where two people can have the best intentions but disagree on how to get there. You people can impune the character and intentions of me, the president, and tens of millions of Americans... you can say we're evil, we're facist, we're this and that and we're the most dangerous people in the world, lie, exagerrate, and show contempt for our society and government. You can wallow in cynicism, paranoia, hate, and fear. You can say nothing when people agree with your points and make incredibly meanspirited statements of ignorance to further it. You can do all those things.

But don't get all mad at me when I voice opposition to your methods and propose intelligent, productive discussion.
