I just noticed we're limited to 150 people in a list and a starter pack. It should cover most of us that're active or we can create a second list but if a lot of people really want to stay in touch.. maybe discord is the way?

Besides I think we all have discord at this point anyways.. if you want to game, you need discord, if you want tech support, you need discord.. so what's 1 more channel on discord for us?

I don't see it dying anytime soon and it allows for forum talk and dm talk.

Not like it costs anything so maybe one of the admins or mods want to set it up?

It should be one of you IMO. I only mod here because I care about the community. But it's obvious there is no monopoly on that sentiment. I'll happily join up.

Ok here we go then..

New AToT discord server link: https://discord.gg/BD25nb9uFU

I'll remod the mods, readmin the admins so they keep on doing the heavy lifting.. nothing will change except it won't be dependent on people dedicated to making the community homeless :p

The other advantage - or I should say potential advantage - of a new forum is that it may be possible to migrate existing forum threads/posts. Obviously that depends on using the same forum software, or something that allows for such an import. And the current owners of what's left of Anandtech would have to allow it. I don't know the likelihood of either. If that's possible it would strongly benefit from being able to migrate the user database as well, because it is of less value if it shows all posts prior to migration as being by "User #2374" or similar.

It isn't necessary to get ALL the data since Anandtech's inception, but having every thread that's been posted to in say the past six months would be a big advantage over having to start with a clean slate.

I am now in both discord channels, let me know which one you choose to remain. I assume this is still just a temporary measure, or "just in case" thing.

(I do not post very often but I am reading the CPU and GPU sections quite a lot)

Being able to migrate the tech content forums would be great if possible. Could be a tall order for anyone created a new forums site but would probably be the best option.

Two other forums that I think many here already know about and frequent but if not, both of which are active:

Hard Forum (aka the forums for the late HOCP site)

and the fps review forums (many former hocp reviewers):
