The way it will be decided is legally, or by one candidate conceding. The hyperboly on both sides is sickening. Trying to maintain that a dimpled chad is a vote is pushing too far. Calling subjective or unobjective the hand examination of ballots in the presence of witnesses from both sides according to legally defined procedures to enclude ballots that were punched, but which did not register by machine because the chad reblocked the hole is absurd. There will be a legal opinion rendered on deadlines, butterfly ballots, etc. The results now can never be fair because the vote is close and many votes may have been mistakenly cast, but they can be legal and final. It is quite probable that the exit polls were right in the first place, people reported voting for Gore but voted for Bucannon. There have been no claims of fraud, the election will not be stolen. If Gore wins the majority of voters will be happy. If Bush wins a minority of voters will be happy. Gore probably did win Florida but may not get the most counted votes. We will see. What I think we can put to bed is the notion that Bush is a man of cnaracter.

Probably? I thought that manual recounts were considered a more accurate means of counting votes and that's why states use them in close elections.

I just want the most accurate count of the votes. Period. If manual recounts give that, then use the manual recounts.

It just gets more and more interesting....CNN says that USA Today is reporting significantly more absentee ballots have been received ALREADY:

It was also reported last night that 3 ships overseas had mail ballots that had not been picked up ( one is a carrier out of Jacksonville ). A plane was dispatched to fly the ballots to the US. There were no numbers reported as to how many ballots were involved.

Interesting......I wonder when the ballots were filled out....I thought the overseas ballots had to be postmarked by November 7, Election Day.
