I figured before I did, I'd ask if it's worth the $30 I paid for it. Or are there better DX10 shooter options out there?
No. Send it to me.

For some reason, I got stuck at "Recovery" when you need to take out 2 tanks.
So I blew them up, sniped all the NK's running around and...nothing. No one tells me to go anywhere and I have no active "quests". Anyone else encountered that?

No, I did get stuck in a later point in the game (rescue prophet before he freezes his ass off scene). They resolved it in a patch. Have you updated?
Actually...scratch that. I DID get stuck there once. Basically all you have to do is proceed on as if you were given instructions to do so. You head up the creek next until you get to a cave. Prophet is supposed to be outside the cave and give you some dialog then you both head in. Just go into the cave and it will trip whatever event to go to the next level.
Careful heading up that creek (the game won't warn you of this since your'e seeing that bug). You'll stay on the right side of it and come across several squads of troops. Be prepared for the noise of combat to draw the next squad your direction so displace a bit after the firefight then hunker down and wait. Watch out for single troops/squads across on the left side of the creek. You'll get some unexpected shots from a long distance if you're not careful. Binocular scan that left side frequently as you move upstream.

In my opinion, for single player, I would say Call Of Duty 4 was better but with Crysis a close second.

Crysis is one of the best open ended FPS games I have played. Probably the best since Operation Flashpoint. The second half isn't as satisfying, but that is mostly because it loses it's open-ended gamplay, and becomes very linear. My roommate still plays the game whenver he gets time, and plays through some of the center assault missions, just because there are so many different ways to go about it.

I disagree with this. I thought COD4 should have been at least twice as long as it was. I played through it in a single afternoon. Crysis took several days to complete, then I did it again in DX10 after installing Vista.
To those saying it runs like crap: turn your damn settings down. On medium settings at native resolution, this game still looks better than Oblivion.

This is why I think FarCry 2 will be much better. There will be no aliens or trigens to stop the fun. Just you against people right through the entire game in 50 sq km of open ended gameplay to do whatever you like, whenever you like, however you like.

Absolutely. I found it to be excellent with my 7800GT, but once I got my 4870 I just had to play through it again with some heavy eye candy.

Play through the game in a day, admire the eye candy, show it to friends who haven't seen good graphics, uninstall. Forget it ever happened a week later.

After reading so many critiques, I have pretty much come to the conclusion that people who love open ended game play (you don't have to do things the exact way they are scripted out) love the game, and those who like to play the game like it is a movie (follow the script) don't like the game.I think the second group outnumbers the first, which is probably why we don't have many open ended games like this on the market.
