2) Why don't you just tell the buyer to go to the store and get one at the same price? OH.. the sale is over. TOO BAD. THEY LOSE.
3) There is no FS/FT rule that says your profit must be within a certain proportion to the cost of the item.

It's not bad practice, it's smart investing. If you're still selling it cheaper than it can be purchased for, how is that wrong? 99% of the time the product is just as new as the ones in the store... just opened to test.

If you through some hard work of your own stumble across a secret cache of cheap computer gear, buy it, and sell it later, that's capitalism.

If you watch the hot deals forum day in and day out because you have no life, buy everything that looks resellable, and then turn around a week later and sell it in the FS forum on the same site - that is being a jackass.

What happens if the trend continues? No one posts any hot deals, becuase they are better off not publicizing them.

People on this forum are saavy enough that you can't post some obnoxious price and expect it to sell. Getting in on a good deal and passing the saving to a fellow member is perfectly acceptable. If I make a little money for my time there is nothing wrong with that.

Why does this thread even exist? A PM you think is rude goes into the circular file, that's it. No need to post about it with a screenshot in a not so subtle attempt to get back at matstars. Luckily this thread didn't turn into a personal flame war for the most part and deviated into a more useful discussion about economics and altruism, which should have been the topic of the thread all along imo.

My opinion on the issue is that yes it seems kinda bad that people just surf deals and sell it back on FS/FT for a profit, but:

1) That's economics, if there is a market, why not sell it for a higher price?
2) It takes time and effort to find these deals (although the hot deals forums makes this a lot easier)
3) They are not obligated to buy an item when it's on sale and sell it to you for an equal/lower price. You missed the deal, no one is gonna buy something for you and hold it for you at your convenience at no extra cost.

On the other hand, the alternative stories you complain about seem decieving, and I'd rather people just come out and say "I got this from a hot deal and want to sell it" and let market forces do their work. On the other hand, does it matter where they got it? It's the same thing either way and the price depends on the market, not on the price they got it at.
