So I'm gonna be in Chicago for 2 months...

Eat a Chicago dog. Portillo's is a great place, but, just about any place with dogs/red hots in the city, suburbs, or even in small semi-suburban towns 50 miles away will make a real Chicago dog.

My favorite place is probably Bob Chinns, it's a bit more $$, and it's like 15 miles or so north of the city along Restaurant Row in the suburbs, but it's uber delicious, fresh seafood flown in from all over, as well as great prime aged steaks. They use a lot of garlic, so if you are a vampire, you should probably avoid it (if the rumors about garlic are true. (Are they?))

Otherwise, if you're in town for 2 months, and you want to ride roller coasters and the like, 6 flags is kinda meh. Coasters are fun, but it's expensive, and waiting in line really really sucks. Also, they closed the Shockwave, which IMO was by far the best coaster there, so it's lameness has grown.

That's almost as ridiculous as naming a baseball field after a brand of chewing gum.

:awe:

yeah but back in the day, corporate names were actual names. not this nonsensical impersonal BS we see all over the place. Sure, it isn't really that different to how stadiums are named these days, but at least there was personality, a real person attached to the stadium.

X-fucking-finity? wtf is that??? Is it somehow supposed to make me forget that it is one of the worst god damn companyies on the planet, simply b/c they gave themselves a name that they perceive as cool and modern?

Sear tower, at night.
Take the boat tour and see the city from the lake.
Art Institute. Spend the whole day.
Cubs game. If you're game, do the beer-an-inning thing. Take the EL though.

i think i'm gonna try and hit up all the pizza places...there is a giordanos not to far from me...do they have a bar and tvs? i might go there and watch the nba finals tonight.

I live 10 houses from Hot Dougs

He's been there making awesome Hot dogs for 38 years

Be prepared to stand in line for 2 hours, they are that good.

I also like The Art of Pizza on Lincoln in Lakeview.

Hot Doug's is great. If you don't want to stand in line for 2 hours, go mid-week or get in line at 10:30am. They're only open from 10:30am - 4pm. Also, bring cash.

I'm not sure how good Hot Doug's is, but if you get out to River Grove, go to Gene and Judes. The place makes amazing Chicago dogs and has won numerous awards. It's dirt cheap (abt $2.50 for a dog and lots of fries ). Its on River Rd. and Grand Ave. Its open from like 11 to at least 1 am every day. Its amazing. I live almost an hour away and I still make regular "pilgrimages" there. Its that good.

Edit: And you don't have to wait 2 hours for a freaking hot dog.

Jean & Jude's is the shit!

I have to disagree on Bob Chin's chain seafood joint. Best in Chicago (Midwest) hands down is Nick's Fish Market. It is also twice as expensive. Remember though, fish is bad for you.

River Rd and Grand is very close to where I work. I normally don't go that way because I live closer to Wrigley. I'll check out Gene and Judes tonight and compare to Hot Dougs. Thanks

Hot Doug's does not sell hot dogs. They sell sausages God dammit.
