It's some mental disorder. It's obvious when you lie about a family member dying.

WAIT, is this the guy who inherited his grandpa's millions in Beverly hills with all his apartment complex's? Link?

Sure this guy is potentially a lying weirdo but on the other hand all the internet-sleauthing and typographic cryptological BS is undeniably weird. So in short, guy A<=weird, everyone else >=weird.

This medium doesn't lend itself to conversations based on fact, it's strictly limited to assertions of opinion, conjecture, and hyperbole; there's simply no way to prove otherwise in most cases. That being said, why get all caught in picking apart someones harmless sob-story?

Carry on. :)

im just in shock because ive never been fired before. it was by far my favorite company to work for, i was paid well for my position i felt, and was 5 minutes away from work, had the best boss i ever had. in fact i moved to this area just to be closer to here. i hate doing this desktop crap and was studying to work on my mcsa/msce, and was hoping to get a promotion by the end of next year if possible. i just feel like everything ive worked for the past year at the place has been flushed down the toilet and now i gotta start from ground zero. i really want to work for a company that can offer opportunites for advancement. well if anyone in the los angeles area knows of any openings let me know.

thanks
Sorry about that, did you get a memo saying you were special or something?
Get a grip and go get another freeeking job, or better still, go invent one for yourself, then you can only fire yourself.

They let you go for one mistake? Was the mistake that serious to warrant your termination?

EDIT: Perhaps they were looking for an excuse to let you go?

Some places really have to run that tight depending on what they deal with.

To OP, dust yourself off learn from your mistake and move on, you'll recover.

i know i will. the thing is i worked so hard there with the intent of promotion, now all of that work is lost and i have to start from scratch somewhere else.

Oh come on

Promotions and raises are very rare now.

The only way to get promotions and pay raises is by changing companies anyway.

They did you a favor.

 Maybe, in your industry.

And they did him a favor? Try explaining in a job interview why you left your last job and/or why you can't use your last company as a reference.

The only thing the previous employer should be confirming is his employment time there, period.

It may be the best way but it's not the only way as he stated. Of course, being employed at the time helps and not getting fired.

Why can't he use them as a reference? I thought employers were legally barred from saying anything negative about an employee.

The company's HR dept can only verify dates and salary. But if he uses his manager and they ask why he left, is he supposed to lie?

That's if they got caught. A former supervisor of mine said some bad things about me to another former employer. I could have pursued it but the employer didn't want to get involved other than telling me what the former supervisor said.

he was fired b/c he spent too much work time fabricating a story about his rich grandpa with tons of property, croaking, then "burdening" him with ownership....

You think you got problems? <RANT> I lost my job April 30, figured the wife had something to do with it. She hung herself on the back patio 2 weeks ago. She stopped paying bills last Oct. House is about to foreclose. Gas is off, using a campingstove to make dinner. Loosing a job for no reason is a bitch, don't let it get you down.

For the love of god I hope that isn't true and you're just making up a story to make a point that his life is not as bad as it could be...

I think you reach a certain point of compassionate development where suicide\murder\rape\molestation jokes are no longer even remotely amusing or appropriate.

...but that's just me. carry on.
