Yeah it makes sense. He/She starts drinking as soon as they can legally which now means they start when they walk in the door. Now if they could drink in their car legally it's only common sense to assume they'd start as soon as they left the store with their beer in hand which means in the car.Originally posted by: Amused

There are a lot of people who go home at night and get over their mundane jobs by drinking themselves silly at night. What's to keep them from getting started on the way home instead of waiting to get home? OC laws, that's what.
On top of that it also helps the Cop's nab drunken drivers as sometimes the only thing that gives them away is their carelessness in handling an OC in the car which a Cop will spot giving them probable cause to pull them over and check for impaired driving.
I know if I were Amused and I was cruising down the road on my new Put the last thing I would want is to come across some Teenage/Early Twenties Fscktard sucking down a 40 of Old English while driving his Ricer/SUV/'Bling Bling Beemer.
Again, you are assuming that a person not inclined to drive drunk and break the law would suddenly be so inclined because he can have an open container in the car.
The person already actively avoids driving while impaired, but suddenly will abandon that because they can have an OC is the car?
That really makes no sense, no matter how many "what ifs" a person can pull out of their ass.
And of course I don't want drunk drivers on the road. I simply do not believe that OC laws significantly decrease the number of people who drive while impaired.

You aren't that dense, you just won't admit that your argument is extremely flawed. In all these years I've known you here at AT I've never seen you admit you were wrong and I don't expect you to start nowYou'd make an extremely aggravating friend in real life!

driving with an open container? drinking and driving? what a winner we have here ladies and gents...
Oh yeah, because one beer makes a person sooooo drunk, right?
In the fight against drunk driving, we have lost all reason.
In California atleast, it's enough fines and insurance hikes to make your life suck ass.
I didn't say it wasn't against the law. I mearly pointed out how reactionary, rather than reasonable it is to condemn someone for having A beer in a car.
You lose someone to a drunk driver and then you tell me how YOU feel about ANY alcohol and driving. /thread
I feel for your loss. However, that does not excuse overreactions that cost innocent people their freedoms.
In no way will one beer make an average sized person too drunk to drive. In fact, one beer wont even put the vast majority any where near the laughingly low "legal limit."
Ask yourself what the BAC was of this person who took your loved one. Then ask yourself why you over react and point fingers even at ridiculously low BAC numbers?
Ok, so change the laws to say 1-2 beers is ok for men who weigh 125-140 lbs, 3-4 for 140lb, etc etc..you see where this becomes an issue? Who is to say what is the allowable amount then for every driver?
You cannot justify drinking and driving, period.

I have nothing to admit, because I do not believe I am wrong.
Because it costs more at the bar and they are surely going to catch a drunk at the bar and then have to drive home totally inebriated. That person already does not drive drunk because they know its wrong. If they want to start as soon as possible, why not belly up to the closest bar, then drive home wasted? (since we're pulling "what ifs" out of our asses)
So you really think that if these Nightly Home Drunks could start drinking on the way home they wouldn't?They buy the beer and take it home because they don't want to drive drunk. They wait until they get home to get drunk because they know better.
The difference is buddy is that your scenario is extremely naive. There, if you can pull scenarios out of your ass, so can I.
Like a drunk on his second 6 packMy argument stands.
No it doesn't, at least in this case.Passing additional laws in an effort to prevent the breaking of existing laws does nothing but punish innocent people, and create more crimes.

Amused this is your fvcking dumbest post of all time...
yes 1 beer depending on the person can impare you...
not to mention he was literally drinking WHILE driving... which is very illegal in any state.
and yes its still just as freaking illegal..
Read the entire thread, first.
And one beer is no more going to impair a person than OTC cold meds, or simply having a cold or flu. Less, in fact.

Bullsh!t. A person can imbibe within reason and still operate a motor vehicle. All you are doing is catering to the lowest common denominator and treating people like children.
It simply amazes me how quickly people fall for knee-jerk activism instead of common sense and reason.

Do you also call the cops when someones tailgating, illegally changing lanes, speeding, driving too slow for conditions, or commit any other of the myriad of traffic offenses?

nope, drinking and driving is a heck of a lot worse, someone zooms past me at 160mph and I would though, witness a hit a run and I would, it all depends on the severity
I used to throw people like you in the lockers at school....I didn't get caught for that either.Originally posted by: wbresson

And I will call the same cops and tell 'em somebody's following me home w/ intend of breaking and entering, which is a federal crime, drinking beer and DUI is not. You'll be arrested and send to BMITA prison.

It's something that can't be explained...has nothing to do with how good the chicken or beer is. It's much of the same feeling you get at a Cub's game while eating a real hot dog and drinking Old Style....you just have to do it to get it.Originally posted by: joecool
this thread is stupid. what's so great about cold, greasy, gross grocery store fried chicken and crappy american beer?

Untrue and ignorant.
Someone tailgating or illegally changing lanes or running a red light is much more of a danger than someone doing what, say, the OP did.
