Ok guys, I have to go pisk up my mail...wish me luck. I'll post when I return of my "adventure".

*Puts on wizard hat and robe**

you'd be better off being a monk or necro so you could feign death... if he starts talkign to you again just drop to the ground and lay flat on your back.

it would be better to be a rogue. just hide and sneak to your PO box and if he attacks, backstab!

yeah, and how do you backstab someone facing you? its not like he's going to be distracted by a healer or slower unless you bring a partner.

ok, so this older guy obviously plays EQ and told you a story.....ehrm..yes..big deal :) :p

Even after readng your post a few times i dont see where he 'attacked' you.

It's true he might need to get out more when he plays EQ 8 hrs/day and has a job and everything....anyway i'd personaly find it rather interesting to share some online gaming stories with someone...really dont see where's the big deal here.....

Update!

Ok, so I got my mail :)

When I walked in, I ran at a full sprint, threw a grenade behind the counter, dove onto the ground and yelled "look out for charlies up in the trees!"

kidding.

He wasnt working. :-D

Got to be careful with that line in some post offices. Lot's of shellshocked vets did postal 'tours' after coming back stateside. :)

One of the things I noticed EQ people do is prefix /gsay or /gs to chat messages...when I worked remotedly and used chat for office communication many of the staff would do this. You could only imagine what they were really doing while telecommuting.

D&D people tend to be a little... passionate about their stuff. I used to MUD (text based EQ) and came across some real strange people myself. I did it to pass time. Other people seemed to do it as a way of life.

that is why you hide and sneak. you dissappear unless they can see invis, and it sounds like this troll is too low to see invis. then he will frantically look around while you are invisible and you can backstab him.

He didn't REALLY get attacked by the guy at the post office. Maybe just stunned or something... if he'd actually gotten attacked he woulda known cause his hit points would have gone down.

Ive run into people like that in mmorpgs as well, especially on the roleplaying servers.

he was actually mesmerized so he couldnt attack back. the other guy just had such low strength he couldnt hit him. maybe he had a shield? its unclear what kind of armor and weapons were being used...

I once got into a long chat session with some EQ flunky :) I started talking about the Plane of Fear and I have only been playing a couple weeks but didn't see the difficulty in it, even when I got killed and had to kill some berserker camping my corpse naked.

The place is supposed to be impossible for even a group of six L60's :)....people have no clue yet spend their waking lives on that game. The Mac one is identical but different servers and much of the exploits haven't been there ever so the game is more balanced. Only drawback is gamemasters are short staffed so support is not live. If you are a suicidal type whenever something goes wrong for your character, not the game for you ;).

I wish I had more time to mess with it. I used to do MUDs all the time in school, but it's gets addicting
