I'm not really a big drinker, but lately I've been trying a few new things (mostly wines) just to say that I did. I guess my tastes are maturing, because the nasty sweet stuff that I once enjoyed (Parrot Bay fruit flavors for example) now turn my stomach. Even the bottle of Wild Turkey Honey Reserve that I picked up a while back has been sitting because it's way too syrupy and sweet.
Anyway, on a whim, I picked up a bottle of Glenlivet 12yr. I used to smirk when I read people talking about all of the subtle flavors in scotch (or wines, or other types of alcohol), but I now see where they're coming from. Of all the spirits I've tried, this is by far the most complex and interesting. It isn't so much about the taste of the alcohol itself as it is the after flavors. It's a little harsher than I prefer, but not bad for casually sipping.
Anyway, I capped it and put it back in the box. Will it keep like that, with the air in the bottle? Should I be using a hand pump vacuum sealer like they make for wine bottles?
Thanks. 🙂
