I hope it gets significantly better, I have watched the first 5 episodes. The theme music and shaky camera and dramatic camera work are cringe worthy, the acting is pretty mediocre as well. I can see potentially though so I will stick out at least the first season
 
I just started the second season. Not sure if its getting better or not.. oh well, I like something making noise as I go about my regular afternoon routine.

the greatest tv show of all time. the theme music is awesome, sets the tone for the whole show. you have to remember the series is over 10 years old, before the shaky camera wasn't overused. now you are just so used to it. i thought the acting is great in the show. i HATED the character that cch pounder plays though (whatever her name is, the black chick detective). her and dutch were great together though.

I'm 7 episodes away from my second full viewing of Breaking Bad in the last three months. I've verified it.

If only I could get my wife to watch.

It's so freaking awesome, glad they ended it instead of dragging it on. OTOH I wish it lasted another 2-3 seasons.

I have only watched the first disc of the first season. I thought it seemed cartoonish and unbelievable because it was so over-the-top. I'm sure it improves, based on everything I've heard about it, but I find it very hard to believe that the show I watched could ever reach the level of something like the Sopranos, much less Breaking Bad. Justified is another show that seems to me to be more interesting and more fully realized than the limited portion of The Shield I have seen.

Yeah, you need to watch more Shield if you think Justified is nearly on the same level. As for unbelievable and Cartoonish, maybe. But do you think a Deputy US Marshall could get away with killing so many people and not get chained to a desk permanently? All shows are over the top.

and i've seen every episode of both, and i love justified. and i agree with twiceover. calling out the shield for "not being realistic" then comparing it to justified, as if that show is realistic? gtfo, justified is just as "realistic" as the shield is, and they both are over the top and "unbelievable".
 
Both The Shield and Justified are awesome.

Which begs the question - when the heck does the new season of Justified start?
 
Well I hope it gets much better than it is now. As of now it is even below Sons of Anarchy, and that is a cartoon action show that is nowhere near The Wire/Breaking bad
 
Just finished season 1. The acting is so bad and Vic's wife is the worse. I will continue watching but I hope it gets a little more high budget and polish. It has to turn up the quality to be worthy of being included with shows like BB, Boardwalk Empire etc. It is still in the minor leagues

When The Shield came out, shows weren't like this. After Breaking Bad, The Wire, SoA, watching The Shield now would be "Um ok", but when it came out there was nothing like it.

The Wire Seasons 1 - 3 > Breaking Bad >= The Shield > The Wire Seasons 4 - 5. Once The Shield gets going its pretty bad ass. The Wire went two seasons too long. Breaking bad is consistently good. When its all said and done, I predict:

Banshee > The Wire Seasons 1 - 3 > Breaking Bad >= The Shield > The Wire Seasons 4 - 5
