So I had my first lucid dream last night

I didn't do anything cool like fly around as if I were god, but from what I understand one has to build up to that.
The experience was so crazy though, I hadn't been sleeping too well that night(despite the 70mg of valium coursing through my veins) and I had fallen asleep again and suddenly I realize, "hey, this is a dream" and I just jump through the nearest window(several stories up) do a tuck and roll and walk away thinking "that was the most awesome thing ever." I then thought, "this is a freaking lucid dream, I should try to fly" BAM! Just like that I woke up. :(
From what I understand that is very common, once one realizes the dream is a dream one wakes up very quickly unless one is skilled in the art of lucid dreaming.
I am most assuredly going to read as much as I can about lucid dreaming and try to get there again, for anyone who hasn't had a lucid dream, you are really missing out. I never knew what I was missing until last night.

You don't need drugs to have lucid dreams. They actually hinder the experience. Weed prevents one from remembering dreams, stimulants keep you up and depressants make you sleep through them.

I've had dreams where I die in the dream but don't wake up at the moment of death. The dream goes pitch black but I'm still dreaming (having thoughts). :Q

I have absolutely no idea how I wasn't asleep until 12 noon today. I had some of the worst sleep of my life last night. I should have slept through an airplane crashing in my backyard, but woke up at least 5 times that I remember.

two days ago, i had a terrible nightmare.

my brother, my four friends and i were chilling at a nightclub and after that, we got robbed and murdered. unfortunately, i was knocked unconscious after a bullet slashed the skin of my forehead. i learned i survived the wound and the rest of them dead. after the funeral, we went back to my house and a cousin picked up an deflated volleyball ball. after recalling the memories of his three standout seasons in volleyball. his form appeared in front of me and i went puzzled. he started to smile at me and i started to cry.

i woke up and cried even more. i went to bathroom and cleaned it up. i am very thankful that i'm really close to my brother. i'm 22 and he's 20; we talk on AIM occasionally. i would be angered if he's dead by now because he's the only brother i have.

Yeah, I always die in my dreams. Always. I don't want to die, but I think the act of dieing itself, I could handle from dreaming so much about it..
Damn, dieing sure leaves a sour taste in your mouth :p..

ha ha ha ha. you guys are talking about it as if you are really dying.

whenever I am about to die or getting knocked out or something along those lines, I always wake up and just before i actually do, i feel that i physically jerk or twitch pretty hard and at that time i wish there was someone in the room so i could ask them if i really did jerk that hard

Apparently when you get good you don't need to "find" anything. You can materialize whatever you want, "Hey, I'm dreaming." BOOM! "What's up Charlize Theron, let's go have flying sex."

I think that's awesome, some of the greatest ideas ever thought and problems solved have come from dreams.
Although not exactly the same, if anyone is familar with the electronic artist Aphex Twin, he composed two entire albums in his studio in a lucid dream(probably not at the same time), woke up and then proceeded to produce them in his real studio.

I have lucid dreams all the time. I also sleep walk and have trances. I have never slept well if I was stressed that day, and usually it comes out in my sleep.

The Koreans have a lot of different views on certain dreams, I recommend talking to one as they can often help you understand what was going on, as some of them know a lot.

I have had a few weird ass dreams that I remember. There is never any point to them that I can see.

In this one I was invisible and I snuck into this huge building. There were guards but they could not see me. I started killing them, but after I killed each one I was less invisible.. if that makes sense. well after a while they could see me and they chased me. I ran around trying to hide and I crawled into this ac vent thing. It was a dead end and I got stuck. they found me and drug me out and killed me. thats how it ended.

In another one I was chased by a group of children and a black man. We were in an old house and the stairs never ended.

I may be one of the few that knows exactly what you mean :)

I was going to post about it, but I figured people would have probably concluded I'm crazy and thought nothing more of it. It happened for the first time in my life @ 22yrs old, about two months ago.

It was absolutely unbelievable, the whole time I knew I was dreaming and knew exactly where I was. At first when I fell into it I thought "holy ******, woah", then I stepped back a bit and realized I was still in bed. Not wanting to lose such a unique experience I quickly attempted to go back in, sure enough it worked. I started off in some obscure stone wall tunnel and moved into a town with rolling hills and very colorful butterflies. But that's not even close to the most amazing part. I walked into some sort of building (with a very nice view might I add), and there was a pair of speakers and CD player. I saw a bunch of CDs, some of which I was familiar with and others not. I could put in ANY CD I chose and the music came out so profound and crystal clear like you couldn't imagine (I kid you not). I could even swap to a song I heard a long time ago but long forgot exactly how it sounded, and it all came back EXACTLY like the actual song. There was no mental effort involved, the music was just streaming out and I was sitting there listening to it. The speakers didn't appear to be of the highest quality yet it didn't seem to negatively affect the sound (cone tweeters, ugh :). It didn't last all that long though, once I slipped out I attempted to get back in but to no avail. Ever since then I hope and I wonder what the ****** happened.

Ok go on, tell me I'm nuts, but I could spend all eternity in there. So much more to explore but I never got the chance, ARGHHHHHHHH.

I don't know if I had a lucid dream last night, but I had one that was rather realistic.. was really cool. First time I've had that in a long time.

Unfortunately I slept in too-- I slept for damn near 12 hours

You'll know if you have a lucid dream. You have to think "I'm dreaming right now, this is not real" for it to be a lucid dream.

K it wasn't that. It was extremely convincing of a dream though. Many times when I dream I know it isn't real and wake up instantly. This one I was really into it and it felt real.

I can remember playing with pitbulls of a friend and their gestures were so realistic. Later on the smells in the dream and the food were so life-like....it was one really crazy dream.

Valium are benzodiazepines. Mild drunk feeling utter calm. If you take too much you will get TIRED.
