I didn't do anything cool like fly around as if I were god, but from what I understand one has to build up to that.
The experience was so crazy though, I hadn't been sleeping too well that night(despite the 70mg of valium coursing through my veins) and I had fallen asleep again and suddenly I realize, "hey, this is a dream" and I just jump through the nearest window(several stories up) do a tuck and roll and walk away thinking "that was the most awesome thing ever." I then thought, "this is a freaking lucid dream, I should try to fly" BAM! Just like that I woke up.
From what I understand that is very common, once one realizes the dream is a dream one wakes up very quickly unless one is skilled in the art of lucid dreaming.
I am most assuredly going to read as much as I can about lucid dreaming and try to get there again, for anyone who hasn't had a lucid dream, you are really missing out. I never knew what I was missing until last night.
