I have been the only person in my apartment for around 3 months. I only pay rent on my bedroom for use of that plus the general area and a lease that specifies that.

The other night I had a small going away party for me and two friends (as we are all leaving the area for good). It was a normal party, no damage and only beer cans and sticky floor as mess.

Today I get a message in facebook from my roomate (who is an assho!e that went out of his way to be a jerk to me all year). Keep in mind his girlfriend was here every day he was here all year and most nights too.

Message: You have NO right to have a party in My apartment, Scott, without my permission as your roommate. I don't care if you are a senior or not, and I know your mess is still all over the place. If you do not clean it ALL up you will leave me no choice but to take legal action. If you believe this is a bluff...by all means, do nothing.

I find this pretty damn funny.

So how long ago was 'the other night'? And did you at least tell your roommate you were going to have some people over?

Other side of story needed. If you spilled beer all over my place I'd be pretty pissed too.

Never went to college so I dont know the rules. I was under the impression Seniors could do what they want, outside of murder and rape.

As far as the party vs. sleepover issue: Yes, he's a selfish ass.
Let him take legal action, and find yourself a better roomie.

Thursday. No, he hasn't lived here in three months and I don't have any contact info. He gave his girlfriend the keys, and she stops in like once a month for some reason.

From the OP it sounds like his roommate hadn't even been living in the apartment for 3 months, and then came home and there were remnants of a party. Moral of the story: know who you're living with before signing a lease.

I am not on the lease with him, and I am moving out tomorrow. We have seperate leases.

From three posts up: He gave his girlfriend the keys, and she stops in like once a month for some reason.

Aww how cute!

Your roommate doesn't have the balls to confront you on anything but an internet based social circle site, then he breaks out the big guns and threatens "legal action". He is a child who has no clue what he is talking about, don't sweat it.

If you want to you should write him back saying that he needs to cease and desist threatening legal action without papers being served or an attorney being retained and conducting this matter for him.

That's fvcking rediculous. Just go bang on his door, tell him to suck it up, and you'll clean it up as soon as you get around to it. "In the meantime, here's a tissue."

That's what happens when you have a donkey show and don't tell your roommate.

She gets those cases a lot...and unless anything is broken, the "sue-er" always loses :)
