Hey, I'm 18 and I lost my license for having an accident, and 13 days later someone hits me in the rear end (i was in the same car). I can't get my license back until October, and I'm living on my own and in college... Fun! Thankfully I was able to cover all expenses ($8450 / semester) with scholarships.

So, I've now got four cars and can't drive one of them. That feels bad.

That really sucks. Why was your license taken away when it's not even your fault the second time?

My expenses are covered by working and the partial scholarship I received. Books this semester gonna total over $300 alone.

$300? that's cheap. i've heard ppl pay in the neighborhood of $500. bookstore = rape

Sieg Heil, Mein Förum Nazi. I'm providing the perfectly valid "STFU and pay the ticket" side of the argument.

i can't give u an exact number, but i would say that 4 points = a sizable increase in premium. just did a quick google search and came up with this (see chart near bottom)... perhaps that will give u an idea

Has DanTMWTMP taken over your account? WTF is with all the u's and r's and ...'s?

Wow i guess i was touched by an angel.

I was clocked doing 47mph in a 25mph zone last night. The cop gave me a seatbelt ticket instead and said that it will save me on insurance :)

I don't even get the seat belt ticket thing. After I got pulled over, it took 5 minutes for the cop to finally walk over to the car and by that time I could have easily taken off my seat belt without thinking about the ticket for that. I was about to atke it off and get my license and everything ready when I decided to keep it on and attempted to get my things ready wih it on. There are no lights so he wouldn't even be able to see whether a seat belt was ever on or not. Luckily I had mine on and only hessitated somewhat before taking it off. Of course had the cop seen me with it off, he would have probably given me a ticket for that too because the cop is always right.

The town you got pulled over in didn't happen to be Elizabeth, Stockton, or Woodbine did it??

Actually in this case the officer was right, because you admitted to being above the speed limit(30) before you came to the new sign. Regardless of what you think happened, your own admission proves your guilt. Pay the ticket and be done with it. You were speeding.

I don't know why he thought that I should lose my license, something about just two accidents in a 13 day period, and he's an OLD guy... Get this, even his grand daughter wasn't let off with any sort of ease for a speeding ticket, probation for a month. He actually threatened to throw me in jail, because according to the new law, any traffic offense is servable for up to one year in prison!

My books cost $540 for this semester :/ If my parents weren't supporting me I'd be working at wal-mart all my life :(

Actually, you missed the point of my post. The officer claimed I was speeding in the middle of town at 53mph. In the middle of town, I never could have reached that speed even if I had tried in my car considering the 2 times I had to stop within a 6 block distance. I may have gone over the speed limit, which everyone does(but thats not my point). My point is that I never went 23mph over and especially not where the cop claimed.

The ironic thing is if you're in chicago area, tune your channel to fox 32 as the're doing an investigation on some small towns and their police officers running a ticket scam. It's going to come on in a couple of minutes and hopefully I'll learn something that will help my case. The only reason I'm posting again is because of this news investigation. If it happens to be the town that I was pulled over in (highly doubt) that would definitely be hilarious.

Yeah, I've been pulled over there. I fish in that area (also grew up in the area).
The Elizabeth cops are bastages. My friend gets pulled over EVERY TIME he drives through - seriously, no speeding, nothing illegal...but still gets pulled over for "flickering license plate light" or something similar.

Elizabeth and Stockton are both well known speed traps

I've never dealt with jo davies county court system directly, but I've bailed people out of jail there.

Btw, if you fight the ticket, you would have to travel to galena (which is where you were skiing in the first place).
I've never heard of a positive experience fighting tickets in jo davies...better off paying it and forgetting about it.

Well, of couse I plan to pay the ticket but the ticket being on my record is alo a concern. It just really irks me because I make it a point NOT to speed and to always watch my speedometer and this happens. And this time especially, I looked at my speedometer several times and I never approached 53mph and especially where the cop said he clocked me at.

I already see the 55mph sign (though I'm not there yet) but at that point I'm still only at about 45 and speeding up when the car behind me pulls on their sirens.

Get your story straight yet?

And for what it's worth, $95 is REALLY cheap for a 23-over ticket.

Like, I said I was watching my speedometer. I may have been mistaken about the whole passing the limit thing before you can go that speed but the fact that the cop pulled me over for what i did in the middle of town is what I'm saying. If I was watching my speedometer then how else would I of known that I was going at 45mph at that point?

Some of you people just really like conflict don't you? Don't tell me you keep under the speed limit at all times every time you drive. If anyone did that they'd be honked at constantly and cut off constantly causing a waay more dangerous situation than going the "flow". Anyways, that's not why I was "speeding" at that moment anyways and that's not a valid argument to a cop (though it is in real life). Like I said, I saw the new speed limit and started speeding up to it and the headlights behind me were gaining on me at an incredible speed. When he pulled me over, I had assumed it was because of me speeding up but it WASN'T since the cop said he clocked me at 53 in the MIDDLE of town.

I guess you need to lean to read more.

blah blah blah blah. you can't see my point. you managed to avoid the part where you wrote "i make it a point not to speed".

and your comeback about "Don't tell me you keep under the speed limit at all times "... no, i don't. but the difference is, if/when i get caught, i pay the ticket and don't whine about it.

It doesn't matter what speed he put you down as going. You were speeding(your own admission). I have a bit more faith in his judgement than yours, but you already admitted your guilt.
