So I got a speeding ticket on the I-10 freeway near LA.

Wow. Just wow. I'm driving my stock 06' STI, driving normally with the flow of traffic, and this prick cop finds it fit to pull me over when there are ten's of other people rushing past me.
He gives me a ticket for speeding, saying that I was doing 80 in a 65mph zone. This pissed me off since everybody else and their mom was going 85-90 while I was going 75-80 variable speed. And talk about shite, I was just going straight the whole entire time and never weaved in or out of traffic. I guess it's that time of the month to harrass people for money when they could be actually doing their job and ticket someone who is actually carelessly speeding. Do you even own a radar detector? If not go buy one. If traffic was that heavy I bet he clocked enough people that you would have known a mile ahead that he was there.
 
Right. When others are blowing right by me this dude comes up and tickets me over everybody else that is doing 85-90. I guess the CHP really needs to fill their ticket quota.

I got a speeding ticket also the other day. I was driving 150 in a 30mph school zone in reverse, while drinking a 40oz, smoking a blunt, killing a baby, and driving blindfolded. I'll be contesting it also.
 
The main issue is that there were others driving even faster than I am and yet he decided to pull me over because of my car. Even the way he said "Subaru" left me with some questions since it seems as though he was scoufing at the car I was driving.

The other night my former boss and I were driving on the Interstate. We got off at where I used to work (and where he still does), and a cop lit us up on the off-ramp. This cop was PISSED. He ran up to the car and was just foaming at the mouth.

His words: "Do you know how goddamn fast you were going?" My boss just shrugged his shoulders and said: "about 70 or a little faster with the flow of traffic." The officer just freaks out at this point and starts yelling about how he has us on videotape and just generally acting crazy. The whole time I'm just in shock. We weren't really speeding, and we were just sitting there talking to each other.

Finally the cop finishes chewing us out, and his words were: "You were doing 75 miles an hour. That's way too fast for here!" The speed limit for this road is unquestionably 70 miles an hour. I felt like I was in the movie Supertroopers.

After ranting and raving some more the lunatic tells us to slow the fsck down and then takes off hauling ass down the road.

I've no idea what kind of crack that cop was smoking, but I never seen one act like that before.
 
Were you in the rightmost lane? If not, and cars are passing you on the left, then I don't see why he would pull you over.
There are freeways that are marked 65 ro 70 speed limit but if you're driving those speeds you're basically going with the flow of traffic on the 2nd to 3rd lane from the right.

As far as insurance, bet that little gecko is winding up to say in his cute little english accent "bend over mate, here comes the rate increase!"
 
Can always state how you would have been endangering yourself and others if you ahd been driving the speed limit. And state that you were driving the speed limit but then people were flying by you, cutting you off, honking their horn, waving guns, etc at you that you felt unsafe and knew that you were making other people unsafe as well so the only logical thing to do was to speed up closer to the actual flow of traffic so as not to impeed anyone else.
