Chalk and look up *hook grip*

Hook grip: put thumb under the bar and grab your thumb with your fingers. Job done. Get use to it as it's a very strong grip. It *locks* you on to the bar.

Maybe I just have a low pain tolerance, but I have found this technique really tough to do because it hurts so much...

I could also be doing it wrong...

Some people have thumbs that are structurally different. If you have a thumb that does not easily bend at the joint nearest your palm, all you will feel is that your joint is going to pop out of its socket.

Well i just tested out mixed grip, not sure on the hook grip tbh. Mixed was much much easier than the standard grip i was using. Don't think ill need the chalk for a while yet as long as i stick to mixed 🙂

When i do ill get that block stuff, rather than crayola, thanks guys

You get use to it. I can hook grip 155kg with one arm.

You won't get ultra strong at it over night. It will take a few weeks to get use to it. Your thumb takes a beating, but trust me the hook grip is very strong and every weightlifter worth their salt will hook grip for Sn and the Clean as the grip is very strong.
