I spoke to another neighbor on the commute in who also called the cops.

She also said it was strange. Our theories are that the family took off on a vacation and left the dog behind. They left the TV on to pretend as if they were home along with the lights.

The other theory is that they are dead.

That theory doesn't explain the mysterious vanishing and disheveled dog.

I think the police department got so many calls they may have had the health department take the dog away.

Either that or the dog is dead too.

Howd they get to the dog when it was in the backyard and the cops werent even allowed in there either?

The lights and TV have been on the past 2 days but no dog.

I called the cops this morning to get a progress report but they said they haven't checked up on it.

I spoke to a seargent and suggested they take another look. They told me they would call me back.

So far they haven't.

Sometimes you just have to be your own policeman!

Call the cable company and tell them that you think they are stealing cable. Follow them in.

FWIW, there are a bunch of UPS delivery stickers on his door.

Though I'm intrigued, I don't want to go climbing over their fence to go into their house to find a bunch of corpses.

I'll let the authorities handle it for now.

Is there any smell of rotting flesh or abnormal odor permeating from the house?

Maybe if you lit something on fire in their yard and called the fire department.

-Update 6-3-2004 8:30PM-

So after arriving home. I decided to take a spin around the house again to see if anything changed.

I notice their hallway fan is on now but can't see anyone. I go back to my house and see the neighbor on his balcony. I go on mine and make some small talk. He asks me if I'm the one who called the police and I told him I was one of the many.

Anyway how, he apologizes and tells me he went on vacation for the week and left the dog at home. Since its normally a calm dog he never expected it to go crazy like it did. Told me it won't happen again.

Sorry no gruesome ending but at least there's closure.

Thank you for your attention. You may now clear the area. :D

lol, you just don't want it to end it like that eh?
most of the time, it's an ordinary world we live in :p

Christ, the guy left his dog home alone for a week? How the hell was it supposed to go outside to poop and pee? What'd he do, just pour a bunch of food on the floor and leave?

Your neighbor is lacking in brains but makes up for it in his abundance of animal cruelty.

I wonder if maybe he had someone checking on the dog during the day? Maybe that's how it managed to get inside?

Still doesn't explain the always open door.

I think he left the patio door open so he could poop outside.

The ex-lax trick would have done wonders for it.

I don't know why the dog disappeared. Maybe the health department or relative took him away. The dog was there when I spoke to him.

It sounds like the guy didn't really bother to take care of too much before going on vacation for a week (the UPS delivery notices, etc.). Ah, well, at least we have closure. :D
