Why would you even ask this of an "asshole"?

Look, I admit I don't know Jareds as they are not in my area, but in general chain stores have higher prices. Maybe you got a good deal but you will have to post the specs in order for anyone to know. Hopefully, it has a GIA cert.

Either way, it does not really matter. You've got more important things to prepare for now. I'm sure your soon-to-be fiance will love it. Hopefully she can overlook your anger issues ;).

I just dont appreciate the negativity with you....thats all.

You mistake honesty for negativity.

Wow this thread just went overboard.

Contrary to popular belief women do not use their ring as a status symbols. One does not compare rings with the girlfriends - we aren't that shallow. This thread just plays on stereotypes and misconceptions.

I've never been asked about my ring specs. To be honest after we got married I barely wear it. I only wear my wedding band.
Maybe in your circle it's true you were never asked, but it's not necessarily the case for everyone. Don't make it sound like such just because you are a woman and represent them all. BTW, girls dress for each other, not for guys, wouldn't you agree ?

About the comparing rings, it's not a competition, otherwise I'd be buying her a new ring everytime someone else gets engaged. Again, it's about meeting a mark. I'm happy that I did that for her (and no, she never even knew it was coming nor asked for it).

Plenty of women compare rings, if not out loud then in their minds. Hell, men look too. The whole thing probably has some geographical criteria to it but don't pretend that it does not happen..often.

And plenty of women are that shallow..as are plenty of men.

Congrats OP. I think DBL is only pointing out the price advantage that buying online from a reputable vendor has over a B&M chain. You can normally get a equal stone with all reports and certs for less or a larger/nicer stone for the same money.

What you don't get is the same face to face contact and personalized service at a B&M store, especially if you find a great salesperson (though I've found most don't really know what they're talking about).

Different strokes for different folks.

I didn't have any confusion about the OP. I think most people are smart enough to figure out that it meant that the ring has a 1 ct main diamond and multiple little side diamonds that total 3/4 cts.

Not really. He wrote different explanations, neither of which match.

The point is that buying a diamond should not be a rash decision, if possible. The OP was smart enough to create a post asking for advice (or maybe I misinterpreted the point of his original post). He got some decent advice (so long as you filtered out the garbage) and followed none of it.

He ran out to a chain store and handed over his money. I'm sure the salesmen behind the counter were licking their chops. Educating himself about the process and getting a good deal were obviously never part of his original intention.

In the end, I doubt that any of this will matter but my comments and those of others were concerned with helping the OP to get as good of value as possible. w/o the specs and cert, we don't know and it really does not matter anyway since the OP already made the purchase.

You're kidding, right? What kind of idiot walks into a chain jewelry store and drops cash on the counter?

That's an open invitation to the sales person..."please rake me over the coals".

Cut, clarity, color, size? Price?

From the movie "The Ring".

A mysterious video tape is killing off anyone who watches it. Whenever the victim watches it, the phone rings, telling them they have only one week to live.

I was confused because other people simply wrote "a .75ct ring" and he didn't correct them. I went on with a few posts suggesting 1ct+ instead and he didn't even correct me that it's already at that.
