I keep ~1K in a checking account that is for our check card/atm withdrawls
I keep ~10K in a second checking account that I use for paying bills

We use our credit card 99% of the time...and I just pay the balance each month from my second account.

The rest goes into savings, retirement, investments.

Too much lately.

With savings rates dropping so much I keep putting off transferring the money over (different banks). I know it's stupid but whatever.

We just had this thread.

Anyway, I have it like I like to have my minerals in SC2... low as possible. You're wasting valuable resources by hording them! Just think about how many mari-, I mean hookers you could be having sex with.

We pay all our bills and daily purchases with a cash back credit card. Until the credit card due date, we put all but $200 into an online savings account. When the credit card payment is due, we transfer the payoff amount from savings to checking, then pay off the credit card.

This way we get cash back on all our purchases and the money collects interest as it sits in savings until the payment is due.

Maybe around $100.

I use a credit card for everything then pay it at the end of the month. Rest of my money sits in my high-interest savings account.

I try not to go under 1k if i can help it but with the new house lately its been below that. But anywhere from 1k-3k is normal depending on pay days and bills etc.

3-5k, got lots of autodrafts out of it... 2 savings accounts contributions, car payments + credit card bills. miss out a little on not getting interest on it, but worth never worrying if I am going to overdraft.

a) $0

b) All of it. Not all at the same house however.

Growing up my family tended to keep large sums in checking. It was only after retirement that they switched to savings accounts, cds, etc.

Since our credit union now pays more on checking than it does on money market accounts, it's all in checking at the moment.

Normally it's enough to cover a month's worth of bills + 1K cushion.

Kind of the same story here. My bank failed and the new bank grandfathered in my account at a fixed rate equal to the money market.
