so how do we feel about the moderators moderating publicly instead of anonymously moderating as Anandtech Moderator?

I was banned and disbarred from Modhood.

Because I know where the bodies are buried. Hell, I buried them.

Yes, I believe at least one elected mod had received a vacation.

I like accountability.

So do I. Is that "Common Courtesy" account still operational?
That account is evil.

*hopes to not get banned by Common Courtesy*

The account wouldn't be necessary if people simply read the name of the account and followed it.

That's a nice sentiment, and the name of the account is all fluffy and inspiring, but in reality mods just use that account to hide behind. I don't see how the Common Courtesy (ironic, considering I find it to be the rudest of the mods) name does anything more than DrPizza (whom I respect, seeing as I somewhat know you by your posts). You might as well name the account Sir Spanky, or Mr. Timeout, or Señor Banhammer. A shared moderator account doesn't really do much to garner respect, or to prevent infractions of the rules here. Seeing the regular mods "patrolling" (well, posting) does.

LOL
Then who was posting from your account for the first 2 1/2 years it was in existence?

What the hell are you on about? Your post makes no sense.

I don't really care. I treat the mods (when posting as users) just as I would any user. If a mod smacks me down, I don't hold it against that person when they're posting as a user. It really doesn't affect my use of the forum.

The only exception is I now have a great deal more respect for Perknose and Harvey for standing up for me when I was inches from a perm-ban. Cheers guys

It's not a shared account. One Mod uses it. You are either grossly ignorant or an ignorant trouble maker. Which is it?

OK, maybe I rambled a bit (I do that), but what I was saying is that I prefer moderators who are regular users and we know who you are. I don't think any moderator account should be a shared account.

That's just my opinion, and I'm not a mod or admin so it doesn't really matter, anyway.

Harvey would have given Hitler a second chance. Perk must have just wanted you around to have someone to bag on...

Common Courtesy is a single mod? Weird, I'm sure I read otherwise on the forums. I must have been misinformed.
I guess I'm "grossly ignorant", according to your choices, then.

I am sure there is speculation out there but all you had to do was ask here.

I thought the mods were all just one collective in the mind of some dude with multiple personalities living in his parent's basement that they threw him down into at the age of 2.

Never having any friends of his own, he created the other persona's to keep him company along with a handful of other forum members he sometimes moderates.

He is his own party.

Uh oh. Someone figured out Denis is the only mod and fake banned himself....

I am not obsessed with the moderators and i definitely don't have the list of their names anymore but what concerns me is when one mod gets power, he/she recruits their friends. Soon, you have a group of mods who are of the same mindset and philosophies so there's no "checks and balances" going on.

One example: aren't two of the mods dating?

He asked me out, but I was in a relationship at the time. I think I missed my chance now. 🙁

I feel like it's worked better. It keeps the mods on their toes and I think it flushes trolls out quicker.

Actually, the trolls stay here longer now. If I was still modding, rolo mather, theflyingpig and GodlessAstronomer would be gone. Though the later got the message and has been getting better.

If I were moderating, the forums would be completely different. I guess that's why I'm not a mod. 😛
