I think I got it done at Planned Parenthood and it cost very little.

1. Drink bottle of JD.
2. Turn on lawnmower.
3. Flip over lawnmower.
4. Sit on lawnmower.
5. No more babbies formed.

This option of course presumes that the OP has enough "junk" to hang down low enough to perform the vasectomy without also performing an assectomy...:D

OP, does your workplace happen to have one of THESE?
If so, you're golden...PLUS, as an added side benefit, you may qualify for worker's compensation while you recover from the procedure. :p

I think we might even have larger ones which I would need....

The OP comes equipped with a sticker that reads:
"Caution. Things may appear larger than they actually are."

You don't remember where you had surgery?

I know, it sounds strange. But my memory doesn't work very well for certain things (dates, places). I know when I had it done we didn't have a lot of money so it's certain I didn't go to a hospital because it never would have been covered by insurance.

Apparently I work at wants people to have kids.....

I just tried to check out planned parenthood to see if that's an option or not. It comes up as "Blocked. Reason: Abortion" LOL

I did this a few years ago - the only out of pocket qwas the script for the pain pills they gave me - that I didn't need anyway.
VERY easy procedure, and one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Good advice. I would add that your insurance company will NOT pay for the reversal should you decide to attempt it later down the road.

I'm pretty sure that I won't ever want a reversal. I don't like kids, never have. But thanks for the info, it'll be good to use when/if a gf/fiance/wife ever goes "BUT IT'S REVERSABLE!!!!!!" :p

Keep in mind, even a reversal isn't guaranteed. Within the first year or two it's possible (possible, not to be confused with probable), but after that the success rates go down significantly (to near nil) after about 5 years or so.

It's always amusing to me when someone says they don't like kids. If only your parents had the same opinion.

Good.

I honestly have no interest in having children, and I know that they are not for me. Nothing against people who have them, but I'll leave the child rearing to people who would/do make good parents.

So, because I don't like kids that means I shouldn't have been born or something?

EDIT: Granted I'm sure a lot of people out there wish my parents had the same opinion.

I absolutely hate kids. That's why I have four of my own.

Now to clarify, I loath other people's kids. While my kids annoy me, they are complete angels in public 99% of the time, and are very polite when in the company of others. Other kids, well, let's just say 99% of those kids are polar opposites of mine.

For that reason alone, I consider my having children worthwhile, despite the fact that I suck as a parent.

So you're saying that people who don't desire to have children shouldn't have been born?

There are other ways to contribute to society besides having kids. Raising kids isn't for everyone.

If your IQ is 120 or higher then it is your DUTY to procreate with a female of equal or higher intelligence in an effort to prevent Idiocracy.

It doesn't work that way, you realize that right? It's the same concept as two fugly parents having the most beautiful child. Two dumbass rednecks ends up with the genius.

Inteligence has been measured as having a high degree of heritibality (~70%), however, if an inherited gift is not nurtered or ignored, then IQ can suffer.
First link I found.

More intelligent parents would be more likely to produce more intelligent offspring, though nothing even close to resembling a guarantee.

While that might have truth behind it, in "developed nations" higher IQ's tend to have less kids on average. There are a multitude of factors that contribute to people with higher IQ's having less kids, but it's becoming semi-common.

FWIW when I was tested as a kid I had an IQ of 143. I really do want to go take another as an adult though, but back then that's what it was.

Pretty simple procedure. I don't know if they still do, but at one point, they simply did them in the doctor's office. Had mine done at the hospital. Snipped at 10am, went to work at 5pm.

Also, in regard to that dementia article, after the vas deferens is snipped, many (most? all?) doctors take additional steps to ensure that none of the little guys get through, including stapling the ends shut. If that's the case, then the argument in that dementia thread really isn't valid.

Yeah, if my primary duty in existence was to reproduce, well, I'd have very different priorities.

Granted, as far as nature's concerned, life's "purpose" in general is to continue its own existence in a hostile environment. Now that we've got what we think of as "free will," that kind of gets tossed out the window.

My main aversion to it is talk of pain for a few days afterward. I have yet to sustain any moderate or severe injuries in that general region, but the few "mild" bumps that have been dealt down there have gotten across some very clear messages:
1) More severe hits would be very bad, especially given my pathetic pain tolerance.
2) It's obviously Mother Nature, and she hates men. Otherwise, testicles would be inside the body, or else the scrotum would have its own skull, instead of a very thin layer of skin.

Yeah, let's put the organs required to perpetuate the species basically just hanging out in the open. That's not intelligent design, that's sadistic design.

That, and being an ATOT member naturally predisposes me to having little need to seriously consider such a procedure in the first place.
