So how are you liking Win10 so far?

on my SP3, it's fine so far... but on my Win 7 desktop... that's another story. It takes a while to launch a few things, Microsoft Edge is garbage... It just crashes, hangs for like 10 minutes then resumes for 10 seconds, and hangs for another 10 minutes. Then, all of a sudden the system tray is missing all of it's icons and I had to restart in order for it to work again. It just feels really buggy and still in beta phase... They need more polish on this... A LOT MORE on my desktop to be useable. going back to Win 7.

Maybe it's your system? I know that might be hard to believe but on 4 systems I've upgraded, The edge browser works fine. It's not as nice as other browsers but it sure doesn't hang like you say.

It's so easy to blame the OS for something on your system that might not be playing nice. Now I'm not saying that's the case for sure, but my experience across more than one system has been the exact opposite.

So, does the final build still include a keylogger?

They did point out specific options to enable/disable that are in regards to improving Cortana and Windows and yada yada yada. I can't for a fact say that disabling those under Privacy will prevent any key logging, but I suspect that it will.

Any specific tracking for the Tech Previews are likely removed, or were rolled up into those specific "improvement" features that can be enabled or disabled based on privacy concerns.

Going back to win 7.

Windows 10 is garbage.. no driver support.. slow to launch apps, takes forever to open firefox (maybe it's an intended pun that you can only use edge in a prompt fashion).

I swear Visa was better on launch than windows 10.

Nope sorry. It's faster than windows 8 which was faster than 7. All my stuff has drivers and most of them I didn't need to download cause it used what I had installed for 8.1. I use Firefox exclusively with no issue.

Something I do notice is that almost everyone complaining about 10 is trying to upgrade from 7. 8 and 8.1 are much closer to 10 and it is likely that something between 7 and 10 isn't going well. I am thinking drivers. Like I said I didn't need any drivers except to install the win10 drivers from nvidia.

I think you have to resolve it yourself currently. For me I had drivers installed from 8.1 that did nothing and the nvidia installer would repeatedly fail. I also could not uninstall them, it would fail also. So what I had to do is remove them in safe mode and restart. My issue isn't related to your link but from what I have read GeForce experience tries to install a driver and windows tries to install a default one. People should turn the update feature off on GeForce experience IMO anyway. Then go into the settings and tell windows not to install driver software.

HTPC just got the upgrade notice.
Big Rig still hasn't received it. 4790k, 2x 7970, 16GB DDR3, Asus Hero VII

I'm guessing they're keeping the "complex" systems to a later date. Either for driver reasons or some sort of compatibility check reason.

Dunno, I just did it manually. I didn't see the notice so I downloaded the ISO. I do wonder how they figure what systems to push the notification to.

I'll bet that you just need to perform a clean install and it's something that I plan to do soon on my desktop to overcome the upgrade issues I've experienced.

Yeah. I thought about doing that but it seemed like so much effort for something that is going to be done automatically.

Well the ISO is good to go for other systems too. So you could download it once and use it on both. That's what I did for the 4 I had.

I did the update install on my Main desktop in sig last night and everything was good except for my creative X-fi card.

However a few pages back I posted a link to the beta driver which I just installed and now have full functionality in 5.1 mode. So everything is good so far I have to test some of my games. Aswell trying to see if the Physx hack I had installed still works.

I've been running the VM for months so nothing is new for me but so far all the apps i've tested so far work great.

Including Firefox which i'm posting this from 🙂

Funny enough the first major issue I've seen is the newest version of GPU Z BSOD the system due to the nv driver when I try to run in LOL. This maybe be related to the physx hack so will be doing more investigation.

Yeah, my Microsoft account was attached to the Windows Insider program and had downloaded the Tech Preview on a different system... yet my desktop hasn't received the notice. I manually installed it for my parents' laptop, I had updated it after sitting unused for a month or more and didn't get the Get Windows 10 app pushed to it, perhaps because it was updated on the 29th? Not sure why...

But what's annoying is my parents' desktop has already received the download invite, lol, while my desktop remains uninvited to the new coolness.

I'm not bothered because I could download the installer manually again, I am curious if it's just a random process or if it based on user software/hardware complexity and/or usage.

I'm waiting a tad bit just to get some things lined up on my end anyway.

Actually I would suggest leaving it enabled for PCs on local network only (unless you have no other PCs on your net). This is a nice feature. They should have defaulted to local only.

I am currently travelling so connecting to a lot of strange networks so I'd prefer to have as little contact with other computers on the network as possible.

On a personal network it is a different story.

2/4 systems at the house upgraded with no issues. Wifes laptop, and my backup desktop. Both of which were on 8.1 already. I expect to do an additional laptop, and possibly my main desktop this coming weekend.

During the Insider Preview this worked very inconsistently for me. Often times I would see the update shortcut for some app. Other times I would see Windows Update as I typed the letters "U-P-D-A..." but it would change to something else or disappear as I typed even though I did not type a conflicting letter. Backspacing would do nothing. Staring all over would often do nothing. Results were consistently inconsistent and it seemed impossible to get the same results as the first time when I went too far without restarting.

Have that issue with Win7 at work. The computer just decides it's too busy to show relevant results right now.

Win 8 at home does it too, but far less often.

On that note, I can't find any indication that my bluetooth adapter (7260 AC+Bluetooth) is working. 8 had an icon and a listing in the device manager. 10 has...nothing?

I had the same problem too after the upgrade. A few resets later and it seem to be OK. I don't think Intel had Win 10 drivers at launch. They seem to have updated them today though so give them a try.

Before I do the upgrade on my Win7 PC I'm going to uninstall every driver except network then do the upgrade. Just in case.

I'd like to do a replacement upgrade to keep all my programs intact. I don't really want to reinstall everything if I can avoid it.

Just wanted to update my previous post

Physx hack is functioning fine on windows 10.

Even installing twice I'd still strongly recommend a clean install murdering everything old. That eliminates nearly all weird issues. Search is inconsistent I've noticed - search for chrome and it comes up subtitled desktop app, search for foobar nothing, search for foobar2000 it comes up subtitled run command. Hmmmm :|
