So, FedEx made me a job offer yesterday......

They've offered to move Kristin and I completely (cars including) along with a "moving allowance" out of California, and will put us up some place for a few weeks until we can find a home. The only problem is, its in Memphis! Now, I've not been to Memphis before but I hear great things about it. So, the company will send Kristin and I out there (Hotel, flight and rental car all paid by them) for a few days to see what we think. Anyone have an opinions on Memphis?

It includes:

- Paper work on a Case Study done on Business Management.
- Paper work showing that FedEx is the 3rd best place to work in in the US in the IT field.
- A FedEx Coffee mug (a nice one I might add).
- Business size envelope with offer letter and legal (HR) paperwork.
- FedEx hat.
- FedEx keychain.
- FedEx badge hook.
- ..and last but not least, a FedEx Express MD-11. Here is a close up of the plane.

We're still not sure what we're going to do yet.

What the lump sum payment for moving you guys out there? Should be over 10k, but I guess it depends since you're going from a higher cost of living to a lower one ... how can you seriously think about moving out of cali!!
 
Maybe you could ask them why it takes until 6:50pm to deliver a package to my house when it's "On FedEx vehicle for delivery" at 8am when I'm only 15 minutes away from their center.

What kinda messed up delivery route is that....

umm...here's a crazy thought. They might drive out to their farthest delivery point and work there way back? 😕

Well, I dont know if I'm going to take the job yet actually.

I've already looked into housing out there, and yes its very affordable. Hell, Kristin and I could buy two houses out there if we wanted. But to me, California is paradise. Cost of living isnt very different out there. Houses are just cheaper, thats it. Gas is the same, my CC bills would be the same, my car payment is the same. We have lots of friends and relative here, so its going to be a tough decision.
