Yup, and in order to get their fastest card you have to pay for the extra 256MB, which accounts for a very small portion of the performance increase in most cases.
The only asses ATI will be kicking will be those of the consumer, just like Nvidia today, with pricetags in the $600-$700 range. And since there are clearly plenty of people willing to pay $750+ for a top-end video card, I see no reason why those prices should fall.

Same thing for me when I tried to add the XT to my newegg cart when they first came out. I posted as such too. Think thats the "cut off" number or something? Seems strange that the exact same number was avail from newegg for both the XT, and GTX. Oh well, Im not paying $750 for a single card. 2x7800GT's would be a much smarter buy.

Thats what I am waiting for. There is zero chance Im paying $750 for a card. I wouldnt mind paying $350 or so for a used BFG GTX. I have a SLI board, and SLI PSU already. But then I can wait a few more months too, and see what comes down the pipe from both companies. CoD2 and F.E.A.R. kicked my PC's butt though at my native res. I had to drop it in both games, something I dont like to do. Which is why I was thinking of adding another GTX.

SLI is once again absolutly terrible even since last time I did 6800GT SLI.
