So can we finally say that OWS accomplished nothing?

OWS protester acquitted of assault on a police officer because video evidence of event shows police to be lying about what they claimed took place which was that they actually assaulted him ( surprise surprise ).

This is how we do it in america... We take away people's right to assemble and protest... and then we give "rebels" in foreign lands guns, missiles, and other tools of death to attack their governments with.

Keep it classy guys.
Meanwhile in Washington....Homeland Security is preparing...for civil disorder?

The DHS is also buying drones capable or electronic surveillance as well as the ability to identify whether or not a person is likely armed or not.

OWS proved that most people dont have two brain cells to rub together and know next to nothing about our real political system. They therefore have no idea how to combat it. Their dumbed down attention spans cannot be focused away from 1000 variations of frickin Harlem Shake for long enough to every gain any real understanding. And they've been conditioned to accept their enslavement for so long that none of it really matters anyway. It might matter after they've fallen down the slippery slope and find themselves with no human rights and no way to ever get them back. But right now they just dont give a shit.

That's the problem w\ all of the people on the board who run around saying liberal this, liberal that... you're basically racists.

A political leaning is not a race. However, you did just prove to us that liberals love to use the race card to try to shame others into doing what they demand. Nicely done, though the effect was not what you wanted.

They did bring attention to the corruptness of wallstreet, and banks. They brought attention to the fact that no one was held accountable for the 2008 collapse. It is unfortunate that they were not very organized, and had splinter groups going in different directions. In addition it also showed that those who did protest peacefully were met with brute force by the police and that there is no such thing as a peaceful protest anymore. The cities made laws to inhibit their ability to protest. The media focused on some of the idiots who vandalized, and wanted to deflect what the core message and original intent was of OWS in the first place.

What is going to happen to all the gun lovers if they decide to go out and do a peaceful protest on this scale and they get met with the same brute force and media bias? The media will most likely make peaceful gun protesters look like thugs and monsters, and sensationalize bad incidents instead of focusing on gun protesters real message.

It is something to think about.

Here is an example of what I was talking about:

Yves Smith notes that newly-declassified documents prove that the federal government treated peaceful protesters as terrorists:

The FBI deemed OWS [Occupy Wall Street] to be a terrorist organization and went into “guilty until proven innocent” mode. Many of the FBI descriptions of possible OWS actions or those of affiliated organizations like Adbusters consistently look to have taken the most inflammatory snippets and presented them out of context.

The FBI also seems to believe that there is no such thing as peaceful protest, that any non-violent activity has the potential to turn violent and therefore should be treated as violent.

In fact, according to Department of Defense training manuals, all protest is now considered “low-level terrorism”. And see this, this and this.

And an Army colonel has written a paper advocating military methods for “crushing” a Tea Party type insurgency.

Indeed, doing anything to challenge government or big bank policies can get you labeled a potential terrorist in America today.

The OWS movement set ports on fire...what do you expect the government to do when the OWS movement does that sort of thing?

Give me some links to that so I can read it. I would be interested in seeing what your talking about.

Again, what was done to the peaceful protesters at the OWS can happen to anyone else, any other group. It may be ok and fine now, but that can turn on a dime if politics change and suddenly the tea party or the gun nuts are viewed with disdain.

The port was vandalized and many things lit on fire in it as well, all part of the "lets hurt the working class and destroy their place of employment" OWS movement.
