I would be bored to tears and quit if it weren't for the people I've come to know in the guild. They keep it interesting at raids via competition and just good-times. When I'm not raiding I find myself goals to aim for. If you're just wandering about by yourself killing things everyday, it's going to get boring. If you come back to nobody in particular, it's going to get boring. I find being able to log on for a couple hours relaxing, after my kids are in bed.

I got the E-mail too. I have been a 10 year vet on MMOs 5 years of EQ and 5 years of WoW. I quit June 2008. What kept me playing were the friends in my guild. I have a really good friend who tried to call me yesterday but I did not pick up the phone because he always tries to get me to come back. The best thing I ever did was quit MMOs.

barrens chat is now full of chuck norris and anal <insert skill> jokes.

it's worse than trade.

When was it not filled with Chuck Norris and anal (Dual Wield) jokes?

Sad thing is that no matter which server, the degenerates always go to the barrens.

i haven't had any trouble quitting... coming back is fun for at most a month after a long hiatus, but after that you get bored again

i've played maybe 12 months out of the last 3 years

This. There isn't that much to do in the game anyway, especially at max level. Raid or level alts, really.

Gotta love all of the ignorant hate on WOW. Maybe 1% of the WOW population are "WOW addicts" who play 24/7. The rest are just regular folks playing the game for fun. I would be curious to see how many of these people railing against "WOW addiction" are smokers. ;)

Played WoW hardcore for about 9 months hardcore ... then I got burnt out & quit. Never felt the urge to go back

Now, Star Wars: Galaxies - damn, I'd kill to play the pre-CU version again :(

for the past couple months, I've slipped down into a zone where I only log in for scheduled raids. argent colliseum is just such a soul-draining borefest.

I might play more after 3.3 comes out, though... cross-realm instancing might make playing alts more enjoyable. idk if I'll continue to raid after Cataclysm, though. I mean, I enjoy raiding and there's nothing else productive that I could be doing instead on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, but I'm hoping that I won't still be single by then :p

I quit 3 months ago, and this is a nice time to hook up friends are still ingame...But with the mess they made in Wotlk I won't be coming back at least till Catalycsm.

For some reason, I thought I read that a Blizzard kept you from going to work and so you're going to be home playing WOW for the next 7 days.

with the kids i don't have the time to stay on for the long, continuous periods needed to even do instances.

it's just so much easier to pop onto mw2 on the 360 and play a few FFA or HQ matches.

If you are able to limit yourself properly, WoW is one of the cheapest hobbies there is, and great fun

I bought it for the first time yesterday for the $5 deal where you get a digital copy and a free month. I've avoided playing it this long, never actually been too interested in it (more of a diablo guy myself) but some friends of mine play so I figure i'll try it for a month. Should I find a cookie cutter build for my first character or just go with whatever I like?

This. $15 a month for hours upon hours of entertainment is a great deal.

Play whatever you like and what seems appealing to you. You can always respec your character later, and rolling alts now is way easier than it used to be, and it will get even better in Cataclysm.

Best way to quit WoW is just go cold turkey. I just stopped paying them and I was able to fight the addiction.

I stopped playing because it got boring. To get any decent gear, you had to do 25 man raids that took 3 hours to get together and another 4-6 hours to run through---who has that kind of time? Then there are classes like Pallys that are nearly indestructable. Then you have the snobby "If you don't have these achievements you can't play with us" group.

F-off. I quit and started playing the Half Life series again. (HL Episode 2 is AMAZING :) ).

when my raiding guild blew up due to drama. and i only have about 1 month left to my subscription... i figured it was about time to quit. maybe i'll try again for the new expansion.

yeah... I've been in the same raiding guild for 5 years.

I decided awhile ago that if the guild ever imploded, I'd probably quit the game rather than join a new guild.

Only part of that I understood was "play what you like" :p - That's all I need to know though, thanks.
