so "ass" is now a part of politically correct non-offensive speech?

I have been hearing it on every single news channel from all kinds of reports, even on NPR, not only are they playing it but they are speaking it, repeating the testimony... I have appalled at the hypocrisy, these people just make and break their own rules... crazy...

I personally do not mind hearing or speaking it. But its never heard on TV before on regular programming, I definitely do not want my 4 year old son hearing it from the reporters they see everyday, as if there's nothing wrong with it, what the F is wrong with these people...

More proof.

My teacher for several years in private school wouldn't let her kids say "butt." I wasn't one of her kids, but I rode to/from school with them every day and was subject to her rules then. Ever since, I consider it a matter of degrees. Ass is perfectly acceptable to some but not all people just like butt is perfectly acceptable to most but not all people.

o_O I'm pretty sure butt is 100% acceptable to 100% of people who aren't elementary teachers.

Since then I've seen many other children straining to use their vocabulary to avoid it. I'm sure similarly-sensitive people are why we have kids calling it "bottom," "hiney," "rear," "bum-bum," and many other "clean" names as if there were something wrong with "butt." I have no idea why they think "butt" implies something vulgar, but[t] they do.

My mother wouldn't let me say "fart" when I was a kid. Same kinda thing.

OP

you let your 4 year old watch news?

You watch news?

I see 2 problems. Why in the world do people even watch these pathetic things they call "news" is beyond me.

Stay away from it. They do nothing but inject fear and negativity into your life....accompanied by bunch of worthless idiot "opinions".

Every single American can benefit from staying away from "news".

I remember going on a Hogan's Heroes marathon for the first time, and laughing out loud when a nice and wholesome Nazi-killing family sitcom suddenly dropped a "jackass" on Colonel Klink. There is nothing offensive about "ass" or any of its derivatives in an insulting context.

I've been hearing several swear words these days that used to be bleeped out - like shit and dick. Not on the news, but on TV shows.

It's just a word. You're really that concerned about your four year old hearing it?

I'd love to hear your explanation on how saying "you fell on your ass" is worse than "you fell on your butt" for a child or anybody.

I suppose it'd be hypocritical if we weren't all successful self-made men with great haircuts in our late 20's.

I mainly meant hypocrisy in that OP was bent out of shape about ass, and then made a reference to fuck in the same post. Cursing is strictly a matter of demeanor in my opinion, and trying to sugarcoat strong words of expression only insults the audience unless done for comedic effect.

My self-cut hair is receding, and I am only 30. :(

That's what I meant too. There are no 4 year olds posting here.

So we are supposed to censor ourselves because some people lack the mental maturity to handle offense.

Unfortunately too many people in this world belong in the latter group.
