I have been hearing it on every single news channel from all kinds of reports, even on NPR, not only are they playing it but they are speaking it, repeating the testimony... I have appalled at the hypocrisy, these people just make and break their own rules... crazy...

I personally do not mind hearing or speaking it. But its never heard on TV before on regular programming, I definitely do not want my 4 year old son hearing it from the reporters they see everyday, as if there's nothing wrong with it, what the F is wrong with these people...

We watch it he just plays around in the living room. he does pay attention every now and then its it interests him. he know all the reporters by their name.

I'm guessing it depends on context. Saying that someone is an ass is probably acceptable, whereas commenting that a woman has a nice ass probably isn't.

Time to get rid of the TV. It's only going to get worse as the envelope is pushed. Few weeks ago, Saturday ~2:00PM, the sex therapy show was on one of the regular cable channels. They were playing an audio recording of the couple having sex. How would you like to explain that to your kid?

The word ass is actually in the Bible. Completely different context though. :p

I was actually surprised when I heard on the radio when they talked about the recent tornado in the US (I forget which state) and they said that they got raped by a tornado. I thought that was pretty funny. It was not some funny talk show or the guy trying to be funny either, it was actually serious.

What's the point in worrying about it? It's not a bad word anymore. That means it doesn't hurt your son to be exposed to it.

One day decades in the future nice, civilized people will be sitting around saying:

"Hey you remember when 'ass' was a naughty word"?

"No".

"Me either"

"Fuck used to be a bad word too".

"You're shitting me"

"Fuck no I'm not"

"Yeah people used to care more about words that described bodily functions and sexual organs than words that actually hurt people".

Why is your kid watching a sex therapy show, especially on a Saturday at 2pm? He or she should be outside being active.

I was flipping channels. Fortunately, he wasn't in the room but it wouldn't be uncommon for him to scan through that channel. FX, iirc.
