It's digital. I guarantee they sound identical unless yours is defective.

i bought a 55" HDTV and a home theater system. The b/f bought $75.00 monster cables. When we couldnt figure out how to set the thing up (we are useless at this) and get everything co-ordinated with the rest of our stuff... we called in theneighbor to give me a hand.. the very first thing he did was take off all the monster cables and throw them in the corner. He said we wasted our money on them.

careful, they may sue you for using the word monster in your post title since they like to sue everyone else who uses the word monster.

That's because you DID. How can you call yourself a true ATer without knowing the value (or rather lack thereof) of monster cables? Shame!

hahahaha, i remember that nonsense. that alone was reason enough not to buy anything from them.

i don't believe in high end cables, but very junky cables can be, well, junk. it just doesn't take a whole lot to get a good signal, though. a friend of mine paid some ungodly amount of money for twisted pair speaker cable and claims he can hear the difference. i tell him he's crazy and that lamp cord would work just as well.

That said, Monster Cables are overpriced for what you get, and as others have mentioned there are equivalent competing brands that can be had for far less money.

Very true. Cheap, low quality cables can sound terrible on high end setups. Monsters will sound nice, but there are other high quality cables that cost less.
Back in my younger days when I was big into car audio, it was easy to tell a difference between cheap cables and quality ones.

I don't know anything about Monster cables, but for analogue signals it can definately be worth buying better cables than what comes with your audio equipment. Just getting the cheapest "audiophile" cables will help make a good system sound better, but it will never make up for bad equipment. I have $70 CD interconnect cables, and $10/m (6m) speaker cables and been very happy for it. It's a one time investment and since it's a +$2000 system, it would be stupid to save on the cables.

I gave my father my old CD cables ($30) and hooked it up on his cheap CD player and 30 YO reciever, and the sound was a bit more open and lively than with the old cables.

Monster cables are for professionals that need the quality it offers, their rate at which they break down are very low compared to generic RCA cables you can get for 1\6 the price of Monster cables.

For example, they are ideal for night clubs that need instant wiring without the cost of extra internal wire implentations. If you have the money and the need for these wires, get them, otherwise, you can get cheaper wires, comparible to Monster wires with a different name brand.

These cables offer strong unsurpassed signal integrity. Usually best for expensive equipment that require higher wattage output for loud and clear sound.

Yeah, my best friend recently got a job in Sears electronics...now mind you, he doesn't know much of anything about electronics, and is certainly no geek, but he sells monster cables if he can. Why? Because they make no comission on many regular items (dvd players, cheap tv's...iunno) but he makes 8% on monster cables. They have a very good reason to sell you marketing BS.

The truth is, of course, there is NO perceivable difference between a gold and a copper cable, if the copper cable is put together right.

They are hugely overpriced. YOu can get high quality things online for probably 1/4 of the price and they have the same quality. I've used a $80 Monster cable and a $5 cable I got online and I could not find any bit of difference at all.

Now if you're an audio freak and can hear the tiny details then maybe you'll hear something.... But nothing I've ever noticed.

http://www.trianglecables.com has never let me down

are their cables any good? good quality?

No idea. I haven't picked where to buy mine from yet, I just pulled that link from YoyohowsdaJello's sig

I'm using their 50 foot component cable from my receiver to my projector, a 3' one from my DVD player to my receiver and a 12' one from my computer to my reciever. It looks amazing.

Their cables are made by python, a well respected brand at AVSforum and Hometheaterforum. If you want to spend more, get something from Bluejeanscable. The cablesforless ones are working great for me though.
