I need component cables but jeez Monster cables seem like they are insanely expensive.

Somehow they got their name out there as being so awesome but I don't think it's worth the extra money unless you are using very high end equipment and you have a very good ear.

They're about as useful as the 500 dollar wooden knobs for your stereo!

if those wooden knobs go to "11" , then they are worth $500

I have a knob for you that can go to "11" :lips:

Acoustic Research. Good cables at reasonable prices. If you want something more high-end. Go with something like Blue Jean cables or another place that handmakes the cables.

Another vote for partsexpress. I have quite a bit of different cables from them as well as an optical splitter and everything's been fine. Good stuff.

If you really want you can use standard composite cables (the red, white, and yellow ones) - just match the colors. I have tried them, the ARs, and a few other mid grade cables and results are geat. Can't imagine Monster giving you anything extra.

Yeah, they're just plain high quality cables that people get suckered into buying.

Depends on your age and gender. If you're male and over twenty, your hearing is on the way out anyway so no point in buying expensive audiophile stuff, particularly if you are the kind of guy who already spent money on expensive loud audio stuff.

They are nice cables, and quality cables can make a difference, especially in high-end setups.

That said, Monster Cables are overpriced for what you get, and as others have mentioned there are equivalent competing brands that can be had for far less money.
