This is why I am glad that I haven't taken the plunge into marriage yet.

LOL @ Burnitdown's comment.

Let's see... lifer who has been here for 6 years. There should be way more than enough information here to track you down.

So, what are you getting *me* for mother's day, such that I don't call your wife and give her a link to this thread. :D :p

hahahah :D i'd be VERY impressed if you could track down who I am, even with mod powers!

She's very well of my views on Mother's Day. As I said, I didn't get her anything the first year because I was confused as to why I was supposed to get my wife a gift for Mother's day!

I got in trouble the first year because I didn't get anything. Then last year I got just flowers and of course she got butthurt.

What do I get her for Wife's Day?

edit: hah, yes we have kids

Nothing. She isn't your mother. After a few years she will get the picture.

Just make sure she gets something from the kids.

Tell her to shut it until something pops out from between her legs. She doesn't get a holiday just for being married.

When my kids were little, I always bought my wife mother's day gifts. As the kids got older, I made them use their allowance money to buy mother's day cards/gifts. Now that the kids are grown, I no longer have to buy her mother's day anything. She's not my mom...it's the kids responsibility to buy stuff for their mom. I don't expect anything from her on father's day either...I'm not her dad.

It's a fake holiday manufactured by jewelers, florists, card makers etc. What else is new. That's why they have the big bucks and laugh at us peons who don't have their own islands. No way to get out of it.

As an aside, here's an interesting article on where your flowers will come from.

Wow, not surprised, but that's a great read.

What's Valentine's Day and Anniversary for??

Exactly, she's the mother of my KIDS, but not my mother. The KIDS should celebrate their mother.

you, sir, are a dipshit. when the kids are little its your responsibility to make sure the kids get her something. you dont give her crap.

What does she get you for fathers day?

We're not big on gifts across my whole extended family. We usually just go out to eat at a nice restaurant to celebrate birthdays, mothers/fathers day, etc...

If you have kids, then she's a mother. You may not be the father, but she's more than likely the mother.

Get her a massage.

You should be thankful you don't have to do Christmas or her birthday in addition to those.

I gave in and bought her a $100 kitchen knife she's been talking about along with the photo card from cvs.
Not bad...
At least she didn't ask you for something useless like a $500 camcorder that most people only use once and forget about.

I ordered $~60 worth of flowers from Proflowers, bought her a $4 Hallmark card, and gave her one of several $100 AMEX gift cards I have stashed up.
I suck at shopping for people and hate doing scavenger hunts which is why I stick to gift cards, flowers, and Hallmark...My mother expects the same things from me Mother's day, her Birthday, and Christmas. She doesn't seem to mind either.
