The original thread over in Cases & Cooling will likely get deleted, so I have saved the thread and will happily host it once I get home.
Basically here's the deal. Over in cases and cooling, a thread started about the Antec DF-85. As you can see, at least for the time being, the reception on this case was lacklusted with basically everyone saying it's ugly. That being besides the point, an Antec rep (AntecAmbassador) showed up in the thread and reached out to the community offering to give a DF-85 away to someone in the thread. Cool, but still the reception was luke warm with virtually everybody still not wanting to touch it with a ten foot pole...
... save me. My post is in there stating I'd like to be considered for it, and subsequently everyone jumped on the bandwagon to support me. Then unfortunately the mods came along and had to shut the thread and contest down "Because it wasn't sanctioned by on-high."
In the meantime, the Antec rep requested I keep in touch in the hopes that the Anandtech marketing folks decide it's okay to go ahead with it.
Let's fast forward to today shall we?
Now all of a sudden this wonderful offer from Antec to reach out to someone in the FORUM community has been turned into part of Anandtech's "anniversary" giveaway. Magically, of course, 900+ current comments all gush over the case. Of course it also drives more marketing and ad revenue directly to Anandtech, rather than watching a respected company like Antec be able reach out to the community directly.
Yeah. Nice.

- Anandtech, yeah - I know - I still have a slightly infinitesimal chance of "winning" the case, rather than the forum community standing behind me. Thanks.
