If anand is only 22 and the website started in 1997, that means he started it when he was either 14 or 15. Is this correct? Hwo could he evr get companies to send him hardware to review at that age..

Yes, Anand started as a geocities site when he was 15 where he reviewed the hardware he had purchased. Through hard work and his naturally aptitude, he grew into the business he has now. He's a great success story. I think he was driving some $50,000 car when he was 18 and it was paid off from his own income.

I don't see how a site like this makes that much money...

I know he sold a few hardware books though... maybe that's where he made money.

I read the front page of this site for a year before Anand posted that he was getting his driver's license.

I sat there staring at the post with my jaw touching the keyboard.

He made it at a smart time...the .com craze was florishing and hardware sales were king. I am sure with the attention he was getting (not in the beginning which was self financed) in the heyday manufacturers had boxes coming whenever he wanted.

AT is a sort of empire...

I went to college at the time and sort of drifted out of the online scene at the wrong time. Many of my friends never completed college yet were already millionaires or working at 6 figure incomes. My brother did this starting an apartment ran ISP at the time when with a rack of 33.6 USR's you could do so. Now he is CTO for the largest private ISP in the mid south east which has won #1 in a few national rankings. Kimble of kimble.org made his fortune during this time.
