I'm curious why your title says friend, when its very clear that he wasn't at all a friend. You'd met him twice and thats it.

Don't be such an ass, it's still a very traumatic experience even if he wasn't that close to the person.

Learn some friggin tact.

....? In the very first line he said that he barely knew the guy.

This has been tried before, NAZI Germany. That worked well. Why not ban the bad people wouldn't that make as much sense.

I love it when someone equates something happening now to the Nazis or Hitler... 😀

On a side note. The Hospital can not release that kind of information to people who are not related. They can only release patient information to family members. One of my buddies (coworker) got into a terrible ski accident and the hospital would not tell me anything about his condition when I called.

there's no doctors dramatically trying to save lives, there's just nothing.

Well I work in downtown Detroit in a very busy ER(as an ER nurse) that unfortunately sees exactly what you described on an almost nightly basis. And while it does make you cold and calloused at times it still doesn't make it any easier and trust me the dramatics are there, if there is any chance of survival we will bust our asses to try and save that person and if that in any way helps you then I'm glad....if it doesn't I'm sorry I tried...

Shootings no matter the circumstances are terrible and it is unfortunate that you ran into an asshole cop and got the run around from the hospitals. My thoughts and prayers are with you and of course the victim.

And if you have any questions or whatnot feel free to IM me...I'll do what I can for you.

I think what he is trying to say is that the movie-scene picture we have ingrained in our head is a lie. ****** got real for him, and it doesn't make sense.

Oh noes, here we go.

Yes, because clearly making things illegal makes it impossible for criminals to get said items.

Doing this would just take weapons away from law abiding citizens and give them to the people we're trying to protect ourselves from.

I'm kind of confused by this. How did they lie if they really didn't have him?

All the same, I know how infuriating it is. They just can't disclose much information without all the lawsuits going around. When I crashed my motorcycle, I was admitted to once hospital and then trucked to a different one that was on my insurance plan. When the other riders showed up to check on me, all they could get was that I had been dismissed from the hospital. They had to wait until the next day when I regained consciousness and could call them to tell them where I was and what condition I was in.

One of the three did have him. That one is the liar I guess....

HIPPA FTL!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Here's a little support from a Lees Summit resident and downtown KC worker.

It's worked so well in Japan where the Yakuza shoot up people, bully them, and have their way with things because they have guns.

Yeah, I think this wouldn't be so hard on the OP if he didn't make himself closer to the situation than he really is. He's too deeply affected by this considering he barely knew the guy. It is tragic that the kid died, but it's someone else's tragedy.

You know what Nietzsche once said... "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."

Now STFU and take your P&N trolling out of this thread. Don't politicize a death :|

I'm also in Lee's Summit (moving to Greenwood soon) and I saw that on the news last night. Sad.

mrrman - leave your anti-gun idiocy out of this thread please.

Ultimately the point I was going to try to make.

Right, lets make sure not to remember history.

The world is fast becoming a sickening place.

Becoming? Uh, since man has existed we have done sick things. Rape, murder, and slavery are fairly natural instincts. Most of us can drive them away, but there will always be people that act on these impulses.

Morally wrong, but dominance over another being in any method happens regardless of time period.

Not a lie. They are forbidden by law to release any info on their patients, or on whether a person is a patient. You may thank your US senator and representative for that.

Exactly, and especially in a situation such as this involving an aggravated assault/murder.

😕 yeah we should thank them especially if someone just escaped a near murder and the idiots hunt them down by checking the local hospitals to see how they are doing.
