Snowpocalypse

depends. where do you live and do you have a roof over your head? if you live in socal your good to go...

they are going crazy here. anywhere from 6in to 3 feet depending on which idiot on TV you listen to

this happens at least once ever year, doubt we even get 6 inches at all

I wonder if this is the same storm we're supposed to get. They're calling for 10-15cm for Toronto, most likely on the lesser end of the scale. More snow is better than less. It tends to keep the idiots off the road.

Not looking forward to tomorrow.

Where I work they tell us to work from home, but my laptop was re-imaged, and they didn't put the vpn software back on it.

Little Rock AR, 3-5 inches expected.

I'm curious to see how it turns out here. They were originally saying we could just get a nice, thick layer of ice but thankfully that changed and they are "only" calling for possibly up to 10 inches. My brother has a blizzard warning where he is however, with 15+ possible, so I guess it could be worse 😛

I'd consider going to buy a new shovel, but other than that, unless it's enough snow to completely cover your house and block all the vents causing you to suffocate from CO poisoning, I would not really worry.

Only thing that DOES suck about getting lot of snow is having to get up earlier to clear the car/driveway so you can get to work on time. That's probably the main part I hate about winter, the constant scrambling in the morning. Though since I work shifts at least I don't have to do that every morning, and when I work nights then I have all day to do it rather than scrambling in the morning.

live just east of Dayton Ohio. went out and got a shovel this morning. roads were shit, but driveable. this 'blizzard' was highly disappointing. i think we maybe got 5" or so. got the snow blower working at least. so that was a nice back saver. just gotta do one more scraping and slat the driveway before bed and im golden.

If you have to leave the vehicle outside; place it at the end of the drive, just outside the snowplow reach.

Less shoveling to get going in the AM.
Another trick - put a large towel on the windshield, the night before. Makes it easy to get the snow off without stressing yourself or the wipers.

I checked the traffic cams around town here this morning just to see a car spin out and nearly get hit by a semi truck while there was a wrecker on the other side hauling away another car that had hit the wall. That was enough for me to stay put 😛

I went out to the barn around 6. At that time, the snow was to the top of my barn boots = about 14" of snow. It's been snowing like mad out there. I may even have to spend 5 extra minutes putting the chains on the tractor in the morning.

I usually use a piece of cardboard

Looks like there's about 15cm of it on my back deck and it's still coming down. Windy too, so some of it might be from the roof. I think we may end up getting more than they originally forecasted. It's that fine, powder stuff. Looks bloody miserable out there.

Thankfully I don't start work till 1pm. I don't miss those days of freezing my balls off digging my car out at 6am only to go and dig more cars out.

I took off work this whole week, so I'll be inside cleaning for much of the day tomorrow. Looks like we got quite a bit already...

Side note - Found out my roommate's truck with snowmobile in the back, as well as my car fit into the garage. Success.

Actually I've been seeing more people doing that. I will have to try that. Can probably use hard drive magnets to make it stay put. 😉

Dumbass son #2. Got home about 12:30 am from skiing and the rear end of his truck slid sideways off the driveway into the ditch. Somehow he managed to get himself wedged in between the driveway & the mailbox (couldn't back up.) And, he conveniently got himself stuck in a manner where I couldn't get the tractor in, due to the van being parked in the driveway. Half an hour later, and I got him out. He went up the road to turn around, with me muttering, "where's the idiot think he's going - there's already been a car that slid off the road on the hill tonight" and a minute later, he was stuck on the other side of the road over the bank by the neighbor's driveway.

His friend is mocking him, because I pulled him out with a "soccer-mom minivan." (Though a grand caravan is a pretty heavy vehicle, plus with a few hundred pounds of extra weight in the van.)

And, despite there being at least 15" of snow, roads are clear this morning & I was able to go the speed limit (65) on the highway. *Ahhhhhh* It's nice to live in a region that can quickly cope with weather like this. I can't imagine how much commerce is lost in areas where everything closes for a dusting (compared to the cost of the equipment to keep roads clear.
