What global warming? Seriously, I have no idea what is going on, but strange weather phenomenons are popping up everywhere. Just stating my observation.

I don't even know when the last time it snow in Malibu, they shut down the 5 freeway because most of the cars in southern california aren't equiped to drive in snow... What's next?

The grapevine has been closed for 2 days now due to snow. I heard on the radio the CHP are having to escort traffic today.

It also snowed in Malibu about 4 years ago.

I've had a few millimeters of ice on my windshield the last two mornings.

The article said it hasn't snowed in the SM mountains for 18 years.

Explain how the vehicles in Southern California aren't equiped to drive on snow.

Probably means snow chains which practically no Southern Californian will have unless they're an avid skier or snowboarder.

Plus, Southern Californians can barely drive in rain, snow would be that much more of a challenge.

I live in KC, we get snow every year, I don't know anyone that has snow chains. I'm with dainthomas... the people don't know how to drive in snow.

When I grew up we had snow in Malibu many times. Not feet of it, mind you, but snow just the same.

1. KC is basically flat. So Cal is all about very sharp grades.
2. KC has an entire fleet of snowplows and salt trucks. SoCal has none.

Yes, the people in SoCal have very little bad weather experience, but even the people in KC would be stuck if they were in So Cal with huge hills and no salt/plows.

The last snowfall recorded at Los Angeles International Airport was in January 1962, according to the National Weather Service. Trace amounts -- less than 0.5 inches -- were reported, according to the NWS.

That's LAX, not Malibu. Malibu is more likey to see snow than LAX because of the sharp mountains that line the beach and the colder air that pours down these slopes.

I am 39. I was born in 1967.

And yes, I have seen snow in Malibu, and in the San Fernado Valley more than once in my life.
