Wait, your retail 980x is a B0? That can't be right, they already have B1 stepping out and it's still 6 months until launch.

EH i heard from my sponsor it was a B0.

AS i said its not installed yet.

Give me until friday to have it in the system.

My room looks like a tornado went though and hit it at the moment.

I'd still like to know what cooling he's using to get these overclocks.

Nadeshiko.

Alright, I'll be waiting 😉 I bet it's a B0 ES that looks something like

Finally, a replacement for my X3220.

12MB, ipc improvements, hyperthreading, 3.8ghz to 4.6ghz, reasonable mobo prices, and ddr3 coming down.

Time to upgrade when these come out.

So now u understand why i cant get the 980 installed yet.
I would never finish cleaning my study if i had the 980 installed.

You do know what these will be priced at, no?

I would get more BOINC credits with one of those CPU's in a week than my entire fleet gets in a year. Excuse me while I go cry in the corner.

Haha, same feeling. Makes my two Q6600 quads used for Hyper-V/testing look like shite.

Damn, these will be virtualization monsters.

retail. 1k per lot 1000.

So id think around 1000-1400 depending on the store and markup.

Oh, i know :hmm:

I was asking Acanthus, as unless he likes throwing money around, it's not going to be a financially-friendly upgrade.

oh is there any more info on the Xeon 32nm quads

Have you seen the thread linked in my sig?

I suspect L5609 will be the best value. (32nm quad core, no hyperthreading but Turbo mode is still enabled, 12mb L3 cache).

The shame is these CPUs will no doubt be harder to obtain (ie, No Microcenter/Fry's deals for this one)

I'll let you know as soon as I get my bios updated to support the L5609 I have and get it running. I suspect it'll fly though based on the crazy low VID.

980 coming up later today..

Lemme finish some rounds of ME2 first... 😛

Then i pop in the cpu.

Do we know what these will be stock-clocked at? looks like 3ghz+ fo sho. And nice CPU of Turin 😀 one of the greatest replies in living memory no problem doubt😀

L5609-150bclk.png

Stock speed, with the voltage set to AUTO it comes in at only 0.9v core. It will come in to windows with 166bclk at stock volts but I didn't stress it at all. I bumped it to 1.1v via BIOS and dropped the bclk down to 150 to be sure it would remain stable enough for me to post a few replies then i'll tweak it later.

EDIT: This chip will run for sure, but it will be VERY limited due to the low multi. My guess is, this would be a great chip for stressing your mobo or ram on MAX bclk tests.

couldnt get the 980 to boot up guys.

Im waiting on a bios update to see if thats the problem or a DOA cpu.

EOL = End of Life..

A0 -> B0

My 980 which is still in the packaging is a B0.

It will be the first thing i do when i get the 980 installed.

As i said in my previous post, my study is in shambles at the moment.

Forget about the hd benchmark, you had posted results in the hd benchmark thread that I had posted a while ago from the gulftown. Thanks!! 😀
