Never made one before, just tried though, and didn't turn out to be amazing, but still decent.

I used:
Milk
A little yogurt
A little bit of a mixed juice (flavoring?)
Ice
Mango

I'm thinking I'll keep it simpler next time - milk, ice, and fruits. Maybe more fruits like strawberries and bananas.

your Wendy's has smoothies? all we have out here are Frosty's which are delicious but not even close to a Smoothie.

yogurt or egg whites. Dole makes a Smoothie juice of some kind. When I ordered an Orange Smoothie from Jack N The Box I watched them make it, they pulled out what looked like a 1/2 Gallon Orange Juice container but it said smoothie on the side. I don't know if this is something that stores will sell or if Jack has it made especially for them. But I'd like to find it. it was a DELICIOUS Smoothie.

My favorite: frozen yogurt, fruit juice (of your choice), and fresh fruit (optional). Blend it together and mmm mmm good!

I use
Strawberries
Bananas
Vanilla Yogurt
OJ
Ice

Don't blend ice without a liquid, your blender will become useless

Strawberries
A small handful of blueberries (color and texture)
Banana
Orange (whole... some people don't like this, I like the fact that I'm getting a shitload (pun intended?) more fiber)
Strawberry frozen yogurt.

I don't.

Despite loving all types of fruit (especially cold), despite loving juice, despite loving ice cream and the like I've never much cared for most smoothies.

If you can find a good price, this is what I use, and it has worked out well so far. it makes smoothies far superior to those sold and made at smoothie king.

The best smoothies I've made have been 100% fruit. Any kind of berry (frozen ones work great, and keep it cold without adding extra ice), and a banana and you're set. Throw in whatever else you've got (mangos...mmmm....) and it can only get better.

frozen fruit + water, the key is consistency and temperature. I also add whey protein but that is just a personal choice.

The very best smoothie I have ever tried was at a little dumpy "restaurant" in Hawaii north of Hilo. It was waaaay off the road, but they NEVER used any ice at all. They froze their bananas along with whatever else you wanted. I am not sure what made them so amazing, but I cannot recreate the drink no matter how hard I try.
I have tried a bunch of recipes with yougart, milk, ice cream, etc. I think fresh fruit makes the biggest taste difference.

I make this once a week (for three large servings so it lasts me several days):

2 bananas
16 oz can pineapple in its own juice (not the heavy syrup crap)
1 cup powdered milk
1 tbsp sugar
1 egg
Ice to ~52 oz. If the bananas are really ripe, I'll put in more ice to tone it down, or if they are a bit green, less ice to bring back some banana flavor.

Optionally I add 1 tbsp benefiber and/or 1 squirt lemon juice.

It is probably the healthiest thing I consume AND the tastiest. The benefiber is really healthy for anyone and it makes smoothies a bit thicker which I like. I add it to any smoothy type drink. It really works well with those protein powder shakes which usually need so much water to dissolve that they end up runny.

My 48g protein strawberry smoothie:

10 frozen strawberries
2 scoops ON Strawberry

Fill with water up to the top of the strawberries and blend.
