There is a Fry's in Atlanta already. They are opening a 2nd Atlanta location in the next 6 months or so too...
Two weeks ago I was told 12/10, and the parking lot has been packed all week with employees, so I'm assuming the doors will open Friday and the first big sale will be in the next few weeks.
I live in League City and work on Bay Area Blvd, so I drive past the store twice (or more) per day. I can't wait until I can stop there and blow a little of my paycheck. I hope they close down the CrapUSSR up the road soon, I can't stand shopping there, but it's the best current option for buying small parts short of driving to Fry's North. I've actually ordered things and waited a week for them just to avoid having to give money to CompUSA, but that will end soon!

I'm going to assume (probably wrongly) that the sales at the north store will apply at the south store as well. I will have to ask my friend that works there if she knows.
I would think that the Fry's Houston Chronicle ads would apply to all Fry's in the area.
As far as the opening date, you might give them a call Friday and see if anyone answers the phone. They should be able to tell you. Verizon has the following numbers for Fry's in Webster:

A bit more of an update, I got a tuor of the store yesterday from my friend, its awesome on the inside, there is a 5/8ths scale mock up of the ISS inside the store! :Q
Other than that they looked about 65-70% stocked and 99% finished with the inside of the store. I would give them another week to finish stocking and the last bits of construction for them to soft open.
According to some of the people I talked to the grand opening may be put off til January and both of the new Fry's stores would grand open at the same time.

January would be great. Many of us will have extra cash from the holidays begging to be spent at the new stores 
I'll be keepin an eye on this for deals which will hopefully be at the north store too. GO NORTHSIDE!!!

Are they going to have a Grand Opening sale or anything? Or are they just going to have the normal sales that the North store has? My understanding was that when they build a new Fry's they usually have a "Grand Opening" sale with some really good deals to bring the customers to the new store.

From what I have been told the grand opening won't be until january. The store soft opens beforehand to give the employees time to train with real customers before they get swamped with people on the grand opening day.

Here, here!! There is plenty of room up on FM1488
That way they could get the Woodlands, Conroe, and Magnolia area. Of course, I doubt there is enought demand in the area, so the closest area that would make sense is around the FM1960 area, but then you might as well drive another 10 minutes to the West Road location.
