Or the 45w mobile 2400 @ newegg for $77? how much more overclockability are we talking about? $38 worth?

I'm trying to find where I read it...but I've seen where these have been going up to 2.7 on high end air and more with super cooling, YMMV of course. From what I understand only the best cores are selected as 35W chips, so if speed is your need and you're willing to speend a few bucks extra, these are a great deal. The "regular" mobiles that Newegg has are 45W versions. Also, last time these were around they were going for $150+ on e*ay....

AMDfreak would you mind giving us some more technical details such as to how one would overclock this? Perhaps it would be best to put this in the General hardware section.

well a 2700 has a locked multi so not as good for overclocking.

personally though I doubt thier all that much better than the 45w ones (thats what I keep telling my self so I don't get stupid and go out and buy one)

I just noticed that Newegg sells an XP 2200+ Barton 35W (1.35V). (Sold out ATM) 12.5 x 133. If this core costs the same $ as the core at eXcaliberPC, I could see buying this instead since it's only $77. Opinions?

yeah, but the cache size is different

yeah, but the cache size is different

"Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/ 512KB"

Looks like a Barton 2200+ to me. It looks about right: less clock than a 2200+ Tbred (1.66 vs. 1.80) but more cache (512 L2 vs 256 L2).

does super cooling involve bombarding it w/ liquid nitrogen? ;p

Jen,
What board are they going in? Some SMP boards like my Gigabyte don't need any bridge modifications. I just wire modded the socket for increased voltage and multiplier. Currently running Dual 2400-M's @ 2.2Ghz, have run as fast as 2475Mhz.

mamisano:
Which board are you using? I would love to go dual with a pair on Mobile Athlons. I am currently having a little difficulty in the cooling aspect of my PC though. I am a bit hesitant adding ANOTHER source of heat to my PC. How is your heat/temp situation?

Thanks in advance,
ChunkyBarf

Jen's everywhere.

I got mine from newegg also 2 of them $87 each. I love Excalibers Price Gouging!!!! They should be boycotted just on that.

Newegg is doing it too. Their regular mobile 2400's are $77, and $10 more the the 35 watt. And guess what. They clock exactly the same around 2.6ghz for me on air. 2.75ghz in my vapo

some guy on ebay tried to sell me one of these telling me that it would do 2.7 on stock amd fan.... high end air = unlikely but possible, water cooling = maybe, stock ghetto amd fan = hell no unless you live in an igloo (or something to that effect). oh yeah his starting price was a ludicrous 170 bucks.

i got one from off newegg instead and got it up to 2.4 on decent grade water cooling. GOOD CPU and tons of fun to overclock. idle 32 and load about 34-37, for some odd reason, even though its not running hot... i get stability problems if i go any higher (have used several methods of temp. measurement and they all say load is at 34-37) and doesnt prime. weird.

Either go to cpu section and use the drop down menu's to search for the chipset your looking for.

Or just type 2400 mobile in the "search" box.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-439&depa=0

They seem to be sold out. Reason being this is the last place this hot deal was posted.

Last Friday i saw it and it's been posted on the Overclocking websites. Then finally here about 6 days later.

Shows they will be back in stock on the 28th.

And please dont call this a smoking deal. It's 30% more than newegg. But upon checking excaliber is down to $105. They should be ashamed of themselves for $115. And they are not clocking magically. These are older stepping 35 watters.

The deal was the old 1700dltc's that did 2.4-2.5 with ease and paying $45-50 for them @ newegg.

The price on these mobiles are too high just because of being unlocked.

Very carefully.;) I haven't been able to find a neo backplate yet, but with a very slow and careful placement I got the regular one on without problems.

2.4 max on a mobile is horrible. I get 2.4 @ 1.825v on my year old JUIHB Tbred...on air.

If you guys want good clocking chips, get the 2600 IQYHA, or IQZFA steppings ... I think eXcaliber has the IQYHA one right now...

so the 45watt 2600+ is better than the 35watt 2400+?
