I use to be a chain smoker, buying packs a day, mind you I'm only 21 years old. Recently however I stopped smoking, and only smoke when I go out and drink, once or twice a month. Last night I smoked maybe 4 cigarettes, today I wake up barely able to breathe, and coughing up mucus. I still feel sick to my stomach, and still have mucus in my throat that I keep trying to cough up. Is this normal? I'm kind of worried as to what is going on.

How long inbetween your last smoke til this incident?

I used to be in your shoes when I was younger, completely stopped smoking even casually and I get sick the next day even if I'm around people smoking too much from the second hand stuff. I do remember I'd go a year or so without smoking and have one or two while getting hammer and the next day my throat would be sore and I'd cough up some brown stuff. But next day the symptoms are gone.

The last time I smoked before last night, was 2 weeks ago. And that time I also felt sick the day after, but not to this extent. I feel my self getting better, I also appreciate your personal experience, glad to know I'm not the only one who experienced this.

I get a similar reaction. I used to smoke in high school. Every once in a while when I'm drunk I'll have a few cigarettes and I get a very bad reaction in my throat the next day.

I'm the same way, I smoke when I drink and the next day I feel like crap (much sicker than if I were just drinking). My body instantly wants to reject it, and I end up coughing up brown shit all day.

Don't smoke at all. Problem solved. Once you give it up completely for a while you never look back.

Why TF would a person who used to be a chain smoker still smoke when drinking?

And what sort of answer to your problem are you trying to find? The root cause is that you're ingesting smoke. If you stop that, you no longer have to worry why it makes you sick. Are you genuinely looking for a solution to this that will let you keep smoking?

I wasn't looking for a solution, I was merely trying to figure out if the reaction my body was having was due to the cigarettes. Others have suggested this to be the cause, so I seem to have figured out the answer to my question. I know the solution to this is to stop smoking all together. That's my ultimate goal some people can quit instantaneously, others need to gradually push them out.

I think that you are experiencing a normal reaction to cigarettes. Your lungs are thanking you for anally raping them.
