Smelly Vibrams!

Nike Frees have a 6mm sole drop, which is more than double the vibrams. The whole point of wearing vibrams is to have as close to a barefoot feel as possible.

Do you know how big 3mm is? About this: _

That's not going to make much of a difference.

I love how butthurt Vibram gorilla-douches get whenever someone calls them out on how retarded they look. Come on guys, you're like a flamboyant man-boy prancing down the street during a Pride parade and get's pissed when someone calls him a i love you.

I wear flip flops to the gym and the only time I wear them outside the gym is when I forget to bring flip flops.

They do look gay as hell, would love for a shoe with an extremely thin sole like the VFFs but no luck. Granted some try but they are either too thick or overpad the forefoot.

I would have thought they they would make the show with toe coverings to give the best of both worlds...

Have you tried merrill's barefoot shoes? My wife loves hers. Certainly more normal in appearance. Personally, I love my vibram KSOs, and I'll wear them anywhere. But I'd probably give those merrills a try if I didn't like the vibrams.

There are also the New Balance Minimus series. I own both the trail and road versions. I like them a lot. I found the Merrill's to be too narrow.

Vibram themselves do not.

But other companies use Vibram soles and make a shoe that is essentially quite similar.

New Balance Minimus Zero has a zero drop.

Merrell's Bare Access is essentially zero.

And there are a few other zero or nearly zero (oddly, according to runnersworld, the Minimus Zero has a 2mm drop... and the one VFF has a -2mm drop. A negative drop? That sounds... odd. Their measuring points may be different, and real-world drop versus their measuring points could make for a difference in feel).

As for the Nike Free that was mentioned earlier, a 6mm drop is quite low to someone used to 12mm+ drops, and a good transitioning point to adjust with form I reckon... but it's nowhere near the same feel as no drop. No drop will punish bad form - a little padding with some drop will give you a little leeway, for starters. Plus, it just have the complete "barefoot" feel due to the slight rise - which is very noticeable once you've tried on a shoe with no drop. Or.. compared barefoot to the Free.

I still run with a shoe that has a 10 or 11mm drop, which is few mm lower than my previous shoes which were treating me well. Eventually I'll take a stab at minimalist shoes.

No, those have .008143mm more sole thickness than the Vibrams, so it screws up everything.

:colbert:

A few whole MM, yes, I can see that.

Now you, sir, are just splitting hairs.

And sole thickness isn't the same as drop. [not sure what measurement you were referencing and I don't care to look it up myself 😛 ]
