Please God. There is no way you just referred to something in a song as "generation defining" without laughing, right?

Maybe the phrasing was wrong, what I mean is if you did a montage of 90's shit, you can throw in a clip of that song somewhere.

Live James added a ton of color... and Mellon Collie had James all over it and you can tell since the riffs actually were interesting and layered. Don't get me wrong I love their first two albums but you can tell it was Billy only.

That said, without Chamberlin, Billy is just using the SP name to sell records since his two solo efforts were complete bullshit and it's kind of sad. Zeitgeist sounded like it was recorded in someone's basement shower.

You are wrong wrong wrong! Billy played all non-percussion instruments on every studio album, wrote every single tune and lyric, AND James and D'Arcy sucked BIG TIME live.

If you believe that compare the first 3 records with Chamberlin to the abortions they created after his absence and tell me Billy is capable of running the show by himself.

Chamberlin quit because he didn't want to be a part of Guns N Roses 2.0 aka the Axl show.

Once again, wrong. Jimmy quit mainly because HE IS A HUGE DOUCHEBAG HEROIN ADDICT!

Take a look at the liner notes again. I was (am) a big SP fan, and will even defend BC from time to time (though that's getting REALLY tough to do with a straight face), but James definitely wrote parts if not entire songs on MCatIS (he DEFINITELY sang a couple) and Pisces Iscariot... not sure about anything beyond that because I kind of grew out of their music.

There are still some gems in the last few albums, but it's been a long time since they put out an album that I could listen to all the way through without skipping tracks.

Corgan wanted so bad to not just end up putting the same record out over and over, which I can respect... most artists get bored and end up evolving. Some do it more gracefully than others... and while some end up just building on what they've been doing all along (like, say, Green Day) others (like SP/BC) just alienate their audience until all but the most hardcore fans are left.

It's really too bad... because the guy has talent. It may not be everyone's idea of good music, but it's hard to deny the talent.

Oh... and, personally, I'd be fine if SP turned into GnR II - because I liked Chinese Democracy a hell of a lot more than Zeitgeist...

Jimmy has been clean for some time now. He just said he and Billy were still friends, his heart just wasnt in it anymore. And for the record, that douchebag is one of the best drummers on the planet
