I've had an apple watch for over a year. Its convenient to glance at who's calling or what that message alert was, but I can't say I'd replace it if I lost it. If you do a lot of running or something where you'll get a lot of use out of the activity tracker it might be useful. Just as a notification repeater, meh.

Garmin Vivoactive 3
Between hiking, running and being a fairly active person I wanted something outside of a large phone when doing stuff.
Went with Garmin because it was generally rated as having better GPS accuracy and better long term reliability over Fitbit and competition.
Went with the Vivoactive 3 because I wanted something that was in that price bracket and looked like a watch. It was also on sale.
I get notifications from the phone, can read emails and text. Send basic replies.
Watch face is completely customizable which is awesome.
Sleep tracking was pretty interesting but I don't pay much attention to it anymore.
Heart Rate monitor shed some new light on my work outs.

Complaints
- GPS tracking is a major battery hog. Normally a charge will last a week but a couple of hours with GPS means it will be dead in a few hours.
- Screen isn't all that vibrant compared to new watches but it gets the job done.
- Next go round, I might try button based interface (Forerunner, Fenix) vs a touch screen (vivoactive)

I've had my Samsung Gear S3 for at least a year now and at first I found it pretty handy checking messages w/o pulling out my phone. For a workout it was great navigating without pulling out the phone, but I still had to have the phone on me so I guess it was a draw. Now, I pretty much only use it as a watch, but half the time my screen is blank because I have it on battery saver vs. always on, so I have to flick my wrist just for it to show time. 1/2 the time the screen doesn't turn on when I flick now, and I have to charge it every night. I can't go without a watch, so when this finally dies I'll replace it with a regular watch.
