hmm

An NTSB official told Fox News that they are investigating this as an intentional act, and said it appears the pilot set his own house on fire and then got in his plane and flew it into the building. An NTSB spokesman, however, told FoxNews.com that "we can't confirm any of that."

anybody know what building that is?

edit: nevermind it's 9420 Research Boulevard

Wow, that's just a few miles from me. Scared the crap out of me when I first heard about it thinking it could be my office, but thankfully it's not.

My boss said a friend was in Best Buy across the major highway and stuff fell off the shelves.

Apparently the time line goes something like:

1) Guy sets house on fire
2) Guy steals plane
3) Guy crashes into building on purpose

Conclusion: Guy's a turd.

No kidding, just about a year ago we had a dude standing on the side of a highway with a gun to his forehead. All he ended up doing was shutting down the highway for 4 hours and screwing traffic up for the entire day.

Why do people feel they have to make a spectacle of their problems?

Right across the street from where I work. We were watching the building burn from the roof of the parking garage.

I'm here in Austin, pretty crazy...this is only a couple miles from where I live.

Local radio station is about to do an interview with the guy's wife.

I find it rather hard to believe that a small plane hitting a building would create enough of an impact to knock stuff off the shelves at the store across the major highway.

It was a Piper Cherokee PA-28. A very small plane.

ummmm...how do you steal a plane, exactly?

Stealing a plane and getting away with it = difficult

Stealing a plane and not caring that you're ignoring flight control, that planes will be scrambled to intercept you, etc.. = rather easy (assuming you know how to fly).

Maybe the plane was headed for the Best Buy and missed? It would make more sense.

Obviously he was aiming at Best Buy.

I know I would.

"Officials are investigating whether a small plane that crashed into an office building in Austin, Texas, Thursday morning was an intentional act, an NTSB official told Fox News.

An NTSB spokesman, however, told FoxNews.com that "we can't confirm any of that."

Authorities said they have identified the pilot as Joseph Andrew Stack, a 53-year-old software engineer who lived in Texas.

The small single-engine plane crashed into a seven-story office building in Austin around 10 a.m. local time Thursday.

The FAA said a Piper Cherokee took off from an airport in Georgetown, Texas, at 9:40 a.m. and crashed into the building in Austin shortly thereafter. Officials are investigating whether Stack, 53, owned the plane or stole it."

lol didn't something similar happen a few years back near tax time? Why would people rage at tax time? I enjoy getting my 1-2 grand back. :p
