Sorry but bad occurence with an LG product in the past. Same for Panasonic for another item means I won't be buying their products anymore. Isn't Sandy Bridge still high in price? What about Core Unlocker for the 890GX? AMD is more affordable to me compared to Intel.Your current motherboard is socket AM3, AM3+ is what bulldozer will be, there will be NO NEW CPU's released for your motherboard, NONE!!!! That is why AM3 is a "dead" socket. Not to mention the current 1155 motherboard from intel kicks AMD's ass quite handily (for not much more) And sorry to be the one to tell you mate, but more cores does NOT mean more power and better performance. Step back and stop making excuses, G.Skill makes some of the best damn RAM on the market, LG is a reliable company, and no one is suggesting "Ricer crap".
SSD's are not over priced, they are not making a HUGE profit off of them (they do need to make SOME money though) If you haven't used one don't say you don't need one. You only really need a 60-120GB to load the OS and the main applications you use.
Also the IGP (integrated graphics processor) on the Sandy bridge CPU's is the most advanced and best IGP to date and is about equal to mid-range discreet graphics cards. You say you are no "fanboi" well then why no Intel? It is the ONLY option (besides waiting for BD) that makes sense.
For SSD I'd still need to do more research about it and it's a part I'd know nothing to do with. Would it essentially be the C: drive and the HDD be secondary? HDD would have the games I figure amongst other programs whilst the SSD as already mentioned have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit amongst other programs. Also read the SSDs can't have the data changed too much on it so I figure it'll just read from there then save to the HDD.
I meant nobody made a snide remark I'm purchasing a Blu-ray disc burner, regardless of company which is a good thing. Yeah I plan on using this rig to watch Region B only titles imported from Europe and the UK due to AnyDVD HD. Yup I already use MPC Home Cinema so I have that settled. Could I just buy the 60GB SSD and install the multitude of programs on it excluding games? Only excluding games because I tend to mod some of them.Dude really? How is "the LG is cheaper" (true statement) a snide remark? You need to get off your high horse and listen to reason.
EDIT: I see everyone else in this thread has taken you to school while I was away. Now it's up to you whether or not you will listen.
EDIT2: Here's a great quote from another thread that sums up my thoughts exactly.
One last thing is I have the HD DVD add-on drive for the XBOX 360 and planning to convert titles on the format to Blu-ray disc. Also converting HD broadcasts of films to Blu-ray format, just the ones not already released so I could just have interims. ZERO film grain removal what-so-ever and figure faster but quality encoding too at great bit-rates.
Yes I am a film fan and import quite alot and also a video game fanatic. Should I post a thread in the PC Gaming section as to what titles I already own and the titles I'm planning to buy in the future? More of a physical retail ownership person out of habit but doesn't matter for older games if available through digital distribution which has built in support for XP/Vista/7.
Glad people mentioned the bit about the 2GB 6950 being able to convert to 6970. Not really planning on CrossFiring more due to the games I own which will be posted in the PC Gaming section. Also using many mods which up the textures/meshes from default to 4096x4096 and wondering what sort of framerates I'll be getting on them. Only MMO I play is The Lord of the Rings Online and will be reinstalling after putting the final piece in the puzzle but before the 6950.
Hope this helps!
ONE LAST THING! I should've mentioned I only plan on overclocking at first via very small increments then deciding if I want to push it. That's why 750W PSU including cautionary reasons. Slow upgrader and I've been meaning to build a new PC for the last three years.
So, will my new build greatly exceed the capabilities of my current pre-built P.O.S. then?
EDIT: Heatsink and fan for CPU or use the one in the box? More 120mm fans, ZERO Blue LED ricer, for the case or wait and see? Good thing I read the manuals and have a few guides bookmarked on my current shite PC.
