I had a Commodore 64 hanging around until a few years ago.........
I remember when my dad got it. My buddy next door had an Apple II+ (Thought he was it). That was, until he got a look at the COLOR monitor with our C-64. His just had an amber screen.
When my dad got a C-128, he gave me the 64. It had a 1541 5.25 floppy drive (slowest thing on the planet) and a 300 baud external modem. I used to log on to text BBS all the time, until it got hit by lightning.
I remember when the Amiga came out; I wanted one so bad, but my dad wouldn't get one. They were supposed to be the future of home computing. Hah!
I gave my old 64 to a friend so his kid could fool around with the games, but most of the floppies had deteriorated and wouldn't load anymore.
I used to love those games. My favorite was Raid on Bungling Bay. That game was sweet. Also had one of the first versions of Test Drive. It was real basic and clumsy, but it got me hooked on driving games for life.
Games and machines have come SOOOOOO far from those days.
Man, I feel old.
