My uncle gave me his old Packard Bell with a 486 DX2 66 MHz. It runs Windows 98 and has a modem, and still gets used when I am waiting on new computer parts. It annoys the crap out of me since it is so slow though, but it is reliable.

neat thread :) it's like strolling down memory lane. my dad still sometimes uses his old tandy 1000 tx computer(2 low-density floppy drives & 640k ram). i think it's got an 8088 processor in it but i don't recall for sure.

I setup a 200MHz PentiumMMX /128MB /6GB UDMA2 HDD/Win2k for my son-in-law in the kitchen couple of months ago; it's the best rig I'm willing to let him use for his porn-browsing.... even with that he can congratulate himself to a decent speed; before I generousy upgraded the kid with this P200MMX hotrod, I reserved considerably slower P133/80MB EDO/1.6GB (PIO hehe)/NT4.0 WKST for his hobby :)

....not all that bad, considering fulltime hookup to 1500/256 AT&T cable connected broadband router

I still have a 1 MHz Apple IIe sitting in the corner. Some of the RAM chips are bad but it did boot and load programs the last time I tried it a few years ago. :)

As for PCs, sorry, I got out of the slow lane a long time ago. :p

I'm getting kind of tired of these "what is you oldest, slowest, meanest, ... that you use?"

How about using one of the oldest, slowest functions of this board? The search-function?

I had a Commodore 64 hanging around until a few years ago.........

I remember when my dad got it. My buddy next door had an Apple II+ (Thought he was it). That was, until he got a look at the COLOR monitor with our C-64. His just had an amber screen.

When my dad got a C-128, he gave me the 64. It had a 1541 5.25 floppy drive (slowest thing on the planet) and a 300 baud external modem. I used to log on to text BBS all the time, until it got hit by lightning.

I remember when the Amiga came out; I wanted one so bad, but my dad wouldn't get one. They were supposed to be the future of home computing. Hah!

I gave my old 64 to a friend so his kid could fool around with the games, but most of the floppies had deteriorated and wouldn't load anymore.

I used to love those games. My favorite was Raid on Bungling Bay. That game was sweet. Also had one of the first versions of Test Drive. It was real basic and clumsy, but it got me hooked on driving games for life.

Games and machines have come SOOOOOO far from those days.

Man, I feel old. :(
