Slow moving drive thru!!!!

Lets say you ordered some food from the drive thru, but all of sudden it starts moving EXTRA slow. I noticed people tend to get FED up and leave after they already ordered there food.

Rude much? Yep and i only done it once in my life @ mc donalds.

however long i may wait, probably still going to be shorter than going somewhere else

not to mention, dick move on your part to have them prepare your food and then skip out

Depends on the situation.
If It's in the morning and I'm just stopping for coffee ... I might bail out and get coffee from the cafeteria at work instead...
Otherwise, I'll probably wait it out ...

Damn near every drive-through in my town is set up so you cant leave. Not unless you wanna mow down a baby tree in the process.

I hate that.

I have long since abandoned using the drive-thru unless it's empty when I arrive. I just park and go in. From my observations, about 1/3 of the time the drive-thru would have been faster, 1/3 of the time it's about even, and 1/3 of the time the drive-thru would have taken longer.

I'm OK with that because the longest potential wait is at the drive-thru. There are times I have seen 8 or more cars backed up at the drive-thru and when I went in there was nobody at the counter.

That's why you don't use drivethroughs. Put in the minimum of effort to walk into the store, and it's almost always quicker.

This. I don't think I've seen a single drive through that you can just leave if you felt like it. Now that I think about it, it pisses me off big time.

If I feel like I've waited extremely longer than I should in a drive through and they have a setup where you can't drive off, I'll just wait until I have room to leave and will.

I have once at like 3am. It took like 40 minutes to get through 5 cars. Then the guy behidn em got out and cursed the guy out working. He looked like he was gonna go up to the window and punch the guy out. We got scared and drove off.

I just ordered a damn criss cut fries too.

Most of the drive-throughs here are set up so you can leave. Sometimes if your order will take a while, they'll have you pull out and park so the line can keep moving, then they bring your food out.

I waited 20 minutes once. I was pissed. I also usually go in unless the line is really short. The drive-through is a choke point - one person can hold up the whole line. Inside they have multiple registers, so one person who takes a long time can't hold up the whole line. Some places have designated parking spaces for people whose drive-through orders will take a long time, which is a pretty good solution to that problem.

ive driven thru their landscaping before. when im in line for over 10 minutes its pointless. i also avoid drive thru most of the time due to this.

really? when I worked at BK, drive-thru food was always top priority over people standing at the counter.

i've left before. last time @ sonic i waited about 10 minutes before backing out and leaving.

its easy to do this @ sonic.
if the DT line is long, i go inside and order it to go.
the last time i went to McDonalds for breakfast i did this. walked right up to the counter, got my food and the 3-4 cars lined up waiting to order hadn't moved an inch.

"priority" may be top, but it still generally ends up slower. Not all the time of course, but as someone said above, if one person throws sand in the gears, the whole machine stops. Inside you have choices. Keep in mind also that I don't like BK. They may have a system that works better than everyone else's, but I don't have enough experience to tell.

Most drive thru's in CA seem to be made not to allow people just to drive away. You're inside some sort of barrier with curbs on either side, and usually some deterrent like a tree or an iron fence. So no, I haven't but I know there are times when I wish I did 🙁

I think I've waited nearly 40 mins at In and Out's drive thru once. And you can't escape either.

That's why I always go inside the store (if possible), I hate burning gas to avoid walking 20 feet. Also you can check your order much easier than at the window where thoroughly checking your order would mean further delaying those waiting in line..

This! Nothing sucks more than driving away from the McD's drive-through and wondering "where's the sauce for the mcnuggets?" or "where are my fries?"

Definitely stay and wait.
By the time you get somewhere else, you could already have your food from the first place.

That said, it's not much of an issue, most of the drive throughs here seem to be exceedingly efficient for some reason.

i was stuck in a taco bell drive through for 45 minutes one night when i got blocked in. if i'd have been driving anything that could do any sort of curb hopping i would have left, but my old car got highpointed on a curb one time.
